Because Pence is smart enough to not take the bait on deflections. Trump should take notes. When your opponent is baiting you with a *deflection* go ahead and deflect back, and then get back to real issues, like the disaster that is Obamacare, the disaster that's the Middle East, the loss of jobs etc etc etc.

Debate 101 stuff.

What would you think if someone asked Kaine a bunch of rapid-fire questions on Hillary's myriad lies and missteps? You and other Hillary supporters would whine like a bunch of babies lol.

^Another classic deflection folks. Pence garbled his way through it the next day when called on his debate lies, now we see another deflection. Truth and the right are not friends these days.

Hillary supporters and their love of the truth lol.

Kaine did what he was supposed to do: he was supposed to be an attack dog to keep the debate from going to places Hillary didn't want it to go. And it mostly worked. He interrupted Pence something like 70 times and in the process looked sort of unhinged.

If Kaine had any 2020 aspirations they probably went up in smoke.

He made truthful claims about Trump and Trump's statements and Pence lied about them. He got busted the next day and bumbled his way through awkward deflections.

There is no question, by the only objective metric, winning the election, that Pence lost. I'm sure in the hearts of irrational partisans he won.

The only objective metric is did his performance help his candidate. By that objective measure it did not so he could not have won the debate.

But all the polling data for Trump that has come in post debate has shown he is losing ground. Meaning Pence performance didn't help him. Clearly Pence lost. To be fair to Pence he may very well have been in a no win situation but the data is clear. He lost.

Though I see what you're saying and it's not wrong lol. Kaine did win, strategically, in the sense he kept the debate off of Hillary on Trump, and off Obamacare other *actual issues*.

That's why it's so amusing to see other posters moaning about Pence deflecting, when Kaine's role was to play Master Deflector.

So yeah, you can declare it a strategic win for Hillary's campaign. I don't have a problem with that.
