Yet you keep insisting it would be because it was "government mandated" pretty much showing that you clearly do not understand.

It really doesn't matter, we both agree that the government mandate would be bad. If companies fail because they are trying to generate excitement over cool green tech, then they fail and it would be no skin off your nose.

The difference is I believe green technology could not be a big growth industry WITHOUT a government mandate. You have a field of dreams "build it and they will come" orientation about it.

I think it clearly could be. There are already people making millions on it, and I believe that if current fear mongering continues the smart company could benefit with worldwide sales.

If we, however, let other nations pass us in creating the new technology we'll again be buying from outside.

Either way, since there would be no government mandate to stink it up and make it suck, if they fail it is their risk and not yours.

There's a bubble in green tech because they fully believe it will be mandated by government. And the words and stated intentions of legislators buttress this belief.
 
I believe that Tesla Motors decries your attempt to say it would be unsuccessful without government mandate.

The cars pWn, and people want to buy them regardless of any bubble. I wish I could, or that a car like that could survive long in our rugged area.

I agree that people want to invest in Solar because they believe that there is a bubble forming that they can try to take advantage of, but I disagree that the bubble is the only reason that any green tech can be successful.

Without government mandate we can make it "not suck" so that every part of it is inferior to what we have today and we can create the next real market, manufacture it and sell it. And those nations that went to government mandates may even be forced to purchase our tech. This would be a good thing for Americans.

You can disagree and let me invest in those companies, if they fail it again is not any part of your problem.

I understand. We can disagree on that so long as we agree on the important bits.

I don't think we'll avoid government fiat now anyway, but I do believe that it will pretty much ensure most of the products will be full of suck.
