2) Looking at the body language of that kid, I would bet he WAS put up to it by the mom. He looked completely uncomfortable and did not look like he wanted to say anything. Had this been the kids own insight, it is not likely he would have been so uncomfortable. I could be wrong, but that looked like a set up.

I have to completely agree. 8 year olds are very comfortable with the truth, as long as it's not truth that will cause trouble for them. this one looked like he was confessing to killing the family cat.
 
The mother may have pressed him to say it. But the kid, no doubt, believes his mother doesn't need fixing.

Considering all the hoopla surrounding this event (security, media, grownups praising the closed-minded Bacchman), the kid was probably scared to death.

But the look on her face was priceless.

I would find it hard to believe the kid didn't agree with the statement. But the mom should never have put her kid in that situation. Ever.
