House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that extending unemployment benefits would add “600,000 jobs to our economy.”

She also said that the money from unemployment benefits creates a “safety net” for the U.S. economy because it “injects demand into the economy -- creating jobs.”

There just isn't any words to describe this kind of reasoning......
liberalism truly is a mental illness....

Totally insane. Perhaps she could have made the argument that the 'extension' might 'save' jobs, but create? No way. Even 'save' is unlikely. for the simple reason that the longer folks remain on unemployment, the more disheartened and fearful they become. Additionally, those that know them also become more concerned and more likely to cut back on their spending.

You have never collected a dime then?

Not nearly as fearful as when they're still unemployed but aren't able to collect unemployment benefits anymore....

Do you understand the difference between collecting unemployment and extensions beyond 99 weeks? No one is advocating cutting out unemployment. It should be there for those that need it, the question is, when does one switch from 'unemployment' to welfare?

I guess you are saying you have collected then. If you didn't have your job greeting customers at wallmart, you might have some empathy for those unable to find work.

You want some "empathy"? If you honestly cared about your fellow Americans you would vote this asshole out of office. That would be the most helpful sympathetic act you could do for your fellow Americans you claim to care so much about. Stupid fucking twit.

No, I have empathy. Plenty of it too. It is people like you and dime store Annie who are sorely lacking in empathy.

Okay, let's 'look at me.' I've felt so welcomed here, with the empathy from the left regarding my position regarding employment.

I'm 56 years old. I am functionally deaf, with a bi-lateral hearing loss. I lost my teaching position in 2010. I collected unemployment that summer. Began substitute teaching in two districts the following Aug/Sept. One paid $80 per day, the other $95. The following Christmas break I applied for unemployment again, as 'loss of work due to day-to-day hire.' Surprise! Teachers are the only group in IL exempted from the cause. Yep, I don't have work for institutes and holidays. I've no benefits. The teachers retirement cost me over $24 for every $100 earned.

So without any 'safety net' I went and found part time work, at Walgreens. Wow! Truth to tell, this minimum wage job has been a life saver. Over the summer, remember I do not 'qualify' for unemployment, they gave me full time work. Not a lot, but certainly better than starving.

The 'empathy' on this board by some is so gross as to drive away anyone thoughtful but unwilling to attack you tools. May you rot in hell.

Giving money to people that have none stimulates demand and creates jobs. This isn't rocket surgery and it's not controversial by any means. It's pretty much a basic economic fact.

Moreover, there are about 4 unemployed people for every job opening. People aren't unemployed because they are lazy or don't want jobs or prefer to collect unemployment benefits. People are unemployed because there are no fucking jobs.

Under the circumstances, not supporting extending unemployment benefits is assholery (or ignorance) of the highest order.

Exactly. You have a job. A lifesaver. Better than starving.

What about those that don't?

Do you understand that there are not enough jobs?

People need jobs and your fucking idiot President is playing politics. The pipeline provides thousands of jobs and he doesn't want to okay it. People know what's going on.

The republican governor of one of the states it will transverse wanted it blocked for enviromental reasons, liar.

Well then, lets give everybody money until unemployment is 0 %.......what could be more logical.....

As a matter of logic.....no one has to work and make money if the government will GIVE them money......God.....these problems are so fuckin easy to solve....

ShitPile should be president....
