OUR PRISONS ARE OVERCROWDED!

I had some very long discussions with them, regarding this.
I told them that I just wanted them to see it from a different perspective.

It really tore at me, every time; because they tried so hard and she was just using their lover for her, to continue to use them.

Sounds to me like they needed to try what you say they eventually did.

I tried to never force them; because I knew enough that it was a decision they were going to have to arrive at themselves.
Most the time I just acted as a sounding board, for my friend to vent on.

They actually had to close a business, because of the money she stole from it.

Why do you think they want to be rehabbed and how many times should they be able to avail themselves of this free opportunity?

It's been shown that people don't change their behavior, until what they're receiving from their behavior becomes unbearable and even then it's not enough to convince someone to change.

One thing that most people are avoiding addressing, is where someone with drug charges and violent behavior charges are usually plea bargained down to the guilty on the drug charges.
Should we now do away with plea bargains; because I'm for that.

I'll get back to you in the morning.

But from what I see, you don't want rehabilitation. You want to keep them in cages.

That's probably the best thing you can do, too.

From what I see, you don't get that the ONLY way someone can be rehabbed is when HE/SHE decides there is a problem.

NO; because I'm all for helping someone who truly wants help, but it has to be their decision and not what everyone else is telling them to do.

That's why I support the THREE strikes rule. At that point, the one being affected by it has shown me that they don't want to change their ways.

I should have been a "consigliere".
We joke about this, sometimes.

We've been friends for over 15 years.
I've worked with him.
We ride together.
We party together.

Everyone laughs about it being "my job" to keep him out of trouble; but that's OK.

Often times hitting the bottom is the only thing that can open their eyes to their plight.......

Especially if your doing opiates, meth etc.....
