Not sure who it will be but some general notes:

Biden likely won't run for a second term.
Harris is a total cluster fuck. She will get creamed in the primaries. Owl woman asks what makes her that. She's got a grating personality, that cackling laugh that's as haughty as it is false turns people off. She's far to far to the Left. Her performance as VP will just make things worse. Look at her performance in the 2020 primaries. She couldn't get one state to even put her in the running. She may run, but she's a loser--the slow horse--out of the gate.
Trump is a big question mark. He'll likely run, but he may be damaged goods.
I think it's more likely both parties will be selecting an outsider that we haven't figured out yet.

I'm not sure why policy related to a huge problem requires the person in charge of it to be on the ground at the site of the huge problem (which btw spans hundreds of miles from TX to CA). #TRE45ON put Pence in charge of "Operation Warpspeed." Did Pence immediately go into the labs and start questioning the scientists? Of course not. He had control of the whole thing, not a tiny bit of it. I'm pretty sure that the complex problem that is illegal immigration, occurring over decades, is going to take more than four months to solve, don't you?

There is a big difference between overseeing the testing and production of a new med and being in charge of mending and stopping an ineffective immigration system. Illegal immigration is not only enforcement of law but also one of physical security. To access the operational and physical security needs one needs to talk directly to the people doing the job every day. She can't do that sitting on her fat ass in Washington.
