Its a very small army, no doubt. In fact, he was not far off when he called it "caretakers". But when you start with saying Switzerland has no military, then show they have a 22,000 person standing military, it kinda ruins your ability to call anyone else 'stupid'.

I'll stop hunting when those of you who find it so disgusting go out an pick up the bodies of all the animals that starved to death because of over population. Well managed hunting is essential to the health of the species being hunted.There's nothing 'sporting' about it. It's disgusting. It should make you feel ill, so good for you.

LMAO... Well, I think I would have noticed if myself or someone around me were mowing people down with guns... that would be hard to overlook, I should think.
As for history, it's already proven that gun-control laws don't curb violence.
Again, my point... I have carried a registered firearm for over 30 years, and have never had to use it to defend myself or protect my family and I hope that I never have to. All the people I am related to and know, have never had to shoot someone in self defense. I'll ask everyone reading this to respond, how many people do you know who have shot someone in self defense? Is it too many to count? Is it an excessive number? People who gulp anti-gun propaganda, seem to think us gun-toters have to shoot our way to work and back each day, in some kind of Mad Max society... but that's not the experience I have had.
how many ppl are killed ( homicide) out of anger, and the gun is just handy? How many ppl are killed by mass murder? Aurora wasn't the first of these, and won't be the last.
Look. You wanna 'protect yourself', best thing to do is learn some martial arts -but it's your right to own and carry ( subject to limitations) if that's how you think.
I personallty think the damage by guns far outweighs any protection -so let's make a deal, I won't call you "cowards living in fear", and don't call me "ignorant"
PS. to the hunters -yes i understand about thinning the herd, ive seen bucktail deer overrun my house back when i lived in the Maryland countryside.
Be honest, and tell me if you don't get some kind of thrill out of the kill, or are you so emotionally detached, you don't feel anything??
I find that difficult to believe, but i'd like to hear from a hunter tell me WHY they desire to hunt.

I hunt for a variety of reasons. I hunt to thin a population of invasive animals. I hunt for the challenge of pitting me own skills against the instincts and skills of a wild animals. I hunt for the meat. I hunt for the camaraderie of the camp. Is there a thrill involved in the kill? Yes, but not because of the death of the animal. The thrill is because my skills have put there and I am able to make a clean shot.
I have had more days than I can count where I came back empty handed. But those days are still part of why I hunt.

In order for someone of small stature to be proficient enough to defend themselves against multiple attackers takes years of training and to have completely untrained attackers. Martial arts look great in the movies, but a 40 or 50 year old woman is not going to beat up some 18 to 20 year old thugs unless she has spent years and years training. Add in any physical frailty (my wife has fibromyalgia) and it becomes a losing proposition.
All due to human interference and encroachment, hence the need for 'management'.

That is all well and good. But claiming that switzerland has no army is certainly not accurate. then to call someone "stupid" because the army is small is ridiculous.

Yes, that is true. But the lack of predators cannot be remedied. So unless you can work out a time machine, hunting is the best means of population control today.
Yippee. Artificial means of balance and 'management' according to humans and their superior agenda. It'll all end badly, eventually.

Bijou, if you can think of another way to control the population, by all means step up and tell us.
In Alabama the estimated whitetail deer population is 1.7 million animals. Wildlife biologists say that 1/3 of them need to be removed annually to maintain a stable, healthy herd. If you can think of a way to remove over half a million animals in this one state, tell us.
Yes the control is artificial. But given that there has not been a sufficient population of predators in my part of the world in 100 years, this artificial means of balance and management is our best option.

besides the fact that the framers considered this price worth the cost of freedom, eventually this would weed out all the angry nuts by either being shot to death during their fits of rage, or being locked up for life for murder. eventually, it would make a more peaceful socity.
martial arts, while a good thing to know, is nothing like the movies. even an expert is not going to be able to handle 5 thugs intent on assaulting you, but guaranteed that you start emptying the magazine, they are going to scatter like the cockroaches that they are.
