OUCH! Here Comes The Next Pandemic Wave For Spring 2021 In The USA

Hello Concart,

Yep, and as a result, despite DeSantis taking multiple victory laps, new cases in Florida are up 50% in the last month. He's killing people. Hopefully he won't be rewarded for it, but his base is clearly the same as the Trump base.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

One glance at the following image shows that Gov DeSantis is sadly and greedily out to lunch on protecting Floridians.

This is a graph of Daily New Cases of Corona in Florida:

Obviously the numbers do not lie. A new wave is coming on.

Most new cases are the more transmissible mutations.

The old people are no longer dying at previous rates, so that's a good thing.

Now it's hitting the younger people who are blowing off the precautions.

And adding to herd immunity lol.

Hello Darth,

And adding to herd immunity lol.

We can do this the easy way, or we can do it the hard way.

The easy way would be for everyone who is eligible, to go out and get the vaccine, and to follow all of the CDC guidelines for preventing transmission of the disease.

If everyone would simply do that, we could almost completely rid the nation of corona within a month or so.

Then, the only issue would be in people entering the country, which we already mostly control. Travelers could be required to quarantine upon entering the country. We could help them do that. The only possible way for it to spread after that would be undocumented immigrants who slip past the border undetected, so there would be some limited cases.

But we could manage that by requiring anyone who shows symptoms to get tested and quarantined with monitoring.

We have all the tools we need to kick this thing in the butt.

All we lack is the will for the government to take the right steps, and we have this problem with the government-haters who refuse to cooperate with what's good for society.

It's like on one hand the government is not being forceful enough, and on the other hand we have these people who think the government is being too forceful.

And so we continue to have our lives impacted by this thing with no end in sight.

I hope it doesn't go on for 20 years like the Afghan War.

I think the government has been plenty forceful. In fact, we’ve seen quite enough of government force.

It’s puzzling that you think the only road to herd immunity is with vaccines. Each of those cases is as good as—and probably better than a vaccine. Provided the recovery rate stays up and early indications are it is doing just that.

If the CCP virus can’t be beaten with herd immunity [however, it’s arrived at] then it can’t be beaten. It’s doubtful it can be eradicated and there’s no sense in destroying the country in trying to.

Why doesn’t Biden do something imaginative and outside the box, like Trump did? Instead of preaching about masks why doesn’t he do something like an Operation Warp Speed—except geared toward treatments?

Biden ramped up the vaccine stocks and fast-paced the distribution and shots. He did not give it a name you need. He was not trying to draw attention to himself. He is just doing the job. Trump talked and played golf. Trump's speeches coild be distilled down to " me,me,me,me".

Well, first of all, President Biden has done an amazing job with the vaccinations, beating early goals. That is reflected in his soaring approval rating.

Secondly, the virus can be beaten with herd immunity as long as we are effective enough and do it before it mutates into something else and we have to start over.

To your other point that you have no faith in vaccines. Man, that's the only way we are going to make it to herd. Look at the numbers. We've had 32 million cases. We have 332 million people. That's only 10%. We need to get to, who knows? 80? 90? And the hospitals were already getting overwhelmed during the peaks. Trying to get to herd without the vaccines is like asking for a disaster, please. Not a smart idea.

The vaccines have allowed us to get FAR closer to herd.

Now all we have to do is zip it up by getting the selfish unpatriotic hold outs to go ahead and do something for their country besides blather.

I say if you won't get the vaccine you have zero right to celebrate July 4th.

Watch me lol.

You missed my point with cases in the youngish population. Every case is equal to *or better than* a vaccination. So long as the elderly and infirm are vaccinated [and significant progress has been made if hospitalizations are any indication] then our hospitals are being protected.

Remember the first goal post before they started to moving the goalposts? It was protect the hospitals. So, if the hospitals are protected then we/the country can resume normal activities.

We are fast approaching that stage. I encourage everyone to celebrate our freedom on Independence Day and tip a tall cold one to President Donald J. Trump for facilitating the rapid development of vaccines when no one else—but him—thought it was possible.

Those who tout the vaccine development program should be willing to take the vaccine.

Hi Darth,

Those who tout the vaccine development program should be willing to take the vaccine.

Amazing statement that Darth made. It's absolutely stunning in its callous disregard for human beings. "EVERY case is equal to 'or better than' a vaccination." Really? Well, except for those who get sick and wind up with massive hospital bills, long term health effects, or die. I'm guessing they don't think that's better than the vaccine.

Yeah, it's hard to figure how some can so completely disregard the importance of the lives of others.

Idk what it is with the Covid obsessed and statistics.

Statistically, so long as cases are generally confined to the youngish population the death/hospitalization rate is—dare I even say it, flu like. The hospitals weren’t full of the young and healthy population—they were full with elderly, obese and etc. The elderly/infirm need to be vaccinated.

Not sure why this is such a difficult concept.

Why is it such a difficult concept that: When everyone gets vaccinated the pandemic is basically over?

What part of that is unclear?

As a matter of public policy, when the pressure is off the hospitals the pandemic is basically over. Everyone is free to go to ballgames and etc. Fauci goes back to studying allergies instead of tanking the economy.

Back atcha Darth,

The pandemic pressure will be off the hospitals when everyone is vaccinated.

Back atcha Darth,

Actually, the pressure should be off the hospitals before we get to herd immunity. In fact, that’s the first sign we’re making progress. Hospitalizations have always been the thing to watch.

We were told it was about protecting the hospitals. Unless they were misleading us.

And the quickest way to get to herd is for everyone to just get the vaccine.
