Anyone here have teenage kids? I had lunch yesterday with a woman who has a 15 year old son and a guy with a 14 year old son. I guess the 14 year old boy is good looking and having a bunch of girls hit on him at school. His dad was telling me this sexting (sending naked pictures of oneself) is getting big among teenagers and was warning his son not to do it. He said even if they are the same age the boy can still possibly get hit with child porn charges or other bad things. Anyone have any experience with this with their kids or other kids they know?

Seems like harmless fun to me (well until one person shows everyone else at school your naked picture or puts it on the internet) but that would suck for a kid if charges were somehow brought against him.
 
Harmless fun ??????????????????????...you gotta be freakin' joking....

Do you have some good shots of you mother or sister or girlfriend ?
 
It's dumb and something else for obsessive parents to worry about. This is the internet age, it's out there and easy to do, but really most kids with sense should be avoiding it.

Girls can be charged too, and I think it's girls who have been charged. I read that on Atrios a while back, can't remember the details but some real bs.
 
This is really not a big deal unless photos are being passed around and used as kiddie porn. I do not belive an 18 year old kid should be charged with kiddie porn because his/her 16 year old friend send a nude photo of themself.
 
I had a neighbor that has since moved away, that told me when this was really big in the news, that his son in high school used to get pictures of naked girls sent to him all the time. The son would post them on the Internet, send them to his buddies, it was like they were trading baseball cards, instead it was photos of these girls they would pass around.

We had a long talk with our daughter when we gave her a cellphone. It has been a problem at the local high school for a few years. A couple of boys and one girl got burned and brought up on charges of child porn. That slowed things down a bit, from what my daughter tells me.

At first we kept control by not giving her the password to delete txt msgs. Now we trust her not to screw up her life. So far so good.

But yeah, its an issue that parents need to be aware of in the digital age.
