Got 5 nominations but only in lesser categories. Did NOT get nomed for best picture. Hopefully voters realize movies like Black Panther and Wakanda and Hidden Figures are propaganda to convince us blacks can do tech when everyone knows they can't.

I plan on watching “All Quiet on the Western Front” .
I watched the 1979 version with Richard Thomas, Ernest Borgnine, et al. It was ok.

I can see Austin Butler getting Best Actor for Elvis.

Very surprised the Top Gun was nominated. I'm seeing the Banshees of Inisherin and Tar this week. Everything Everywhere All at Once was marvelous. Didn't even know there was a new 'All's Quiet', definitely need to see that as well.

I still love the theater. Reclining seats and popcorn, can't beat it.

Interesting note: Both 'Blonde' (an absolutely self indulgent piece of crap) and 'Elvis' received both Oscar nominations and Razzie nominations.

Maybe I can find a forum that recommends movies. Like you I still enjoy going to the theater, nothing like the big screen and sound. But in the last 10 or more years I've walked away from more movies disappointed than the ones I actually enjoyed. I don't bother going to the special effects heavy ones. No real story. Even walked out of a couple of them early they were so bad.
Here's a real sleeper of a comedy that actually had me laughing out loud and often, I happened to catch on an overseas flight: Nebraska. A dark comedy a la Fargo but I thought way better. I guess you'd have to be from your area to enjoy Fargo.
Let me know how Banshees is.

Wakanda Forever will make over a billion when all is said and done. An Oscar nomination would not add any money, so who cares?

These big budget superhero movies really do not need Oscars.

It is what it is. If you are looking for an art house movie, then it is not for you. If you are looking for a big budget superhero movie that will gross over a billion dollars, it is another one of them.

The original 1930 All Quiet on the Western Front is amazing, especially considering it was made in 1930. If you expect amazing CGI, then you will not get it in 1930, no computers. But, if you want to see the first great war movie, then definitely watch it.

What is amazing was they posted an advertisement for anyone who knew about German military tactics in WWI in a LA newspaper, and got hundreds of responses. There were hundreds of German veterans of WWI in LA in 1930. They had expert advisors who were actually there.

There are no longer living WWI veterans.

If Disney is lying about the revenue from Wakanda Forever, it will be a huge deal. I mean like lots of people going to prison big deal. There would have to be tens of thousands of people involved, all around the world.

I think it is safe to say the revenue figures for Wakanda Forever are accurate.
