Operation Spiderweb is fascinating

So that logic means every country bordering Russia has a right to attack them. Rusia has a long history of expansionism, taking over neighboring states. Want the war to end. Putin can stop attacking a neighboring country. The war would be over.
How many wars has the US started since 2001?
Compare that to Russia.

If anyone can get this done it is Xi and Putin.....they have a plan.....I hope it works.

Putin talks a lot about how America and the West are demonic, Evil, vampires.....I suspect that these two understand that world better than I do....the biggest mistake I have made this life is being overly optimistic....I have had too much faith in my fellow man.

I dont agree with what the Russians are doing, but this does not mean that the Russians are wrong.

There may be an objective way to defend Russia's interests in a way that -doesn't- require so much death and destruction, but if there is, I don't know of it. I'm just happy that this hasn't yet escalated into a nuclear war. Not only that, Russia has of yet not attacked any other country other than Ukraine despite the fact that so many NATO countries have been supplying Ukraine with weapons and even directing those weapons to their targets.

Just read the free part of a paid article from Matt Taibi that talks about the aftermath of Operation Spiderweb, thought it was quite good. It can be seen here:

I thought most of the bottom part of the free section of the article was quite good. Quoting:

For almost ten years we’ve had a consensus mechanism that evaluates all things this way: if it’s bad for Trump, it’s good for the world. It started with being “disappointed” to learn Robert Mueller didn’t find Russian agents in the White House and progressed to “told you so” tales of 400,000 deaths proving Trump wrong about Covid. Now we have the best political Schadenfreude story ever: Nuclear showdown proves Trump’s incompetence. Or, as Walter Kirn put it, ending the world to own Trump.

The Maddow segment was one of a pile of ebullient “Peace Averted!” responses to Ukraine’s “Operation Spiderweb,” which in any normal era would be covered first as an unprecedented escalation of nuclear tension. Officially now, politicians and media have gone mad, so focused on Trump that they no longer see or acknowledge danger to you, me, and the rest of the world beyond.

Vietnam is 7000 miles from the US and poses no threat.
Ukraine is on the Russian border and is a constant threat.
Putin is learning that it is a bad idea to start a war with his neighbors. Hopefully trump will not have to learn the same lesson.

He didn't start it, the U.S. did by turning a nation that had been fairly neutral to Russia into a hostile one:

What Putin -did- try to do is make it neutral once more. Alas, his 8 years of trying to stop Ukraine's civil war didn't work out and he finally decided the only way to deal with the threat that Ukraine had become was to start his military operation. Articles on that too, this one I think is the best:

I guess we are just going to have to agree to disagree. I see invading a country as starting a war. You seem to see an invaded country not surrendering as starting a war.

Tell me, if the U.S. helps orchestrate a coup that removes the elected President of a country, would that not count as starting a war? Or does it only count if tanks roll in?

Bullets were certainly flying before the Ukrainian President was removed, and there's clear indications that the U.S. was backing those responsible for most of the killing:

I think that's being too harsh on Walt. I imagine he's just like many people that trusts the mainstream media to tell him the truth.
Your mistake comes at your cost as you spend so much time on someone who has no intention of speaking the truth.

What I like most about Walt is that, at least with me, he's always been polite. I don't mind going around in circles a bit with people like that, because at the end of the day, you're still treating each other as human beings. The real problems in a discussion start when the personal attacks begin.

The US has been at constant war the entire 21st century, with politicians, CIA, and military in Ukraine since at least 2014. Anyone denying the US was heavily involved in Operation Spiderweb is only fooling themself. Trump knew so Putin and Xi are fed up with all the lies.

Walt is respectful, but not very bright.

Stop making me agree with you.
Walt is an establishment stooge who parrots CIA propaganda. Yall will make a great team.

I'm actually not sure whether Walt thinks the U.S. was heavily involved in Operation Spiderweb or not. As can be seen by the nested quotes above, I had been arguing with him as to who really started the war in Ukraine.

I think being bright is a multidimensional thing. People can be bright in some areas and not so much in other areas. I commend Walt for understanding the importance of civility in discussions, which could be seen as being bright in the aspect of efficient communication.
