A 16-year-old boy was accidentally shot by his father, according to Taylorsville Police.

Store owner Dave Larsen said a father and son were in the indoor shooting range basement.

The father's gun accidentally fired as he was trying to put the handgun in a case.

"As he was securing the gun in his case, he attached the strap around the hand and the gun went off," Larsen said.

The teen was shot in the finger and abdomen.

He was rushed to a local hospital.
