The American people are much less trusting of the call to war and are now insisting that our president follow the war powers act.

I love how the Republican party who tireless fought against it and who has called it unconstitutional over and over again is not prepared to insist it be followed. Its funny how they hate the war powers act when Reagan attacked Grenada, and Libya and love it when Clinton threatened Haiti or attacked Bosnia and now hate it when President Obama wants to do anything.

Politics aside, this is a very positive move for our Country, war should be hard to start and attacking should require more agreement.

How many of you supported a huge effort to send ground troops into Iraq costing thousands of Americans lives and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi lives with less than Obama has on Syria when all he seems to want to do is lob some cruise missiles at some predetermined sites?

HE could, but Congress could draw up articles of impeachment for failure to follow the WPA.

A better positive result would be to repeal the WPA. It was poorly constructed and has served as free-standing congressional authorization for the President to do whatever the fuck he wants with respect to military action. While pitched as a restriction on presidential authority, in practice it was a total delegation of war powers to the President.

Since FDR.

What about Lincoln?

Also, Jackson went in and drove the indians off their land in the south. Right after the supreme court ruled that the land was theirs. Jackson would have nothing to do with it, and marched them to Oklahoma. "The Trail of Tears"
