By the way she did not call housewives dependent children. She said that's how society treated them. This was in 1970 and certainly true. In that essay she advocated for choice for women. Women should choose to be housewives, not forced into it by lack of other opportunities. And for those women who CHOSE to be housewives, she wanted them to be financially compensated, so that they were not dependent.

That is what really drove sexist, controlling men around the bend. They claim feminists degrade housewives. The very opposite is true.
