After listening to the jurors do you think there would ever be a guilty verdict based on their mindset? (actual question, not rhetorical). I mean the prosecution could and should have done better but would it have mattered? From a strictly results perspective Johnny Cochran was brilliant in how he turned into a trial about the LAPD.
No I don't believe so. I watched the rest of it. That one that I said seemed like she was in a trance? I ended up with a very bad feeling listening to and watching her. At one point she said when the verdict was read she was watching Kim Goldman because she hated inflicting that kind of pain on someone but she had to do it. I didn't believe her. I believed she was watching that girl while the verdict was read part. Fully believe.
I understood a lot of the rage over the LAPD. There really arent any words for how awful they were back then, and I think that anyone who wants to take issue with the verdict (and I do) would need to begin by addressing those mf'ers and their role in this. Keep yourself honest you know. They beat people down for years with total impunity, they smirked right on camera as jury after jury came back "not guilty".
OJ was the wrong guy to make the point over. I think it's true what one black guy in the doc said his mom said...that we all know if OJ had murdered his first wife (who was black) his ass would be in jail. Nicole being white and actually both victims being white complicated matters. WHen would there ever be another chance to allow the black murderer of two white people to walk away while smiling at the camera? They wanted white people to see how it feels to have someone spit in your face and laugh at your loss and pain.
OJ is driven across the country and haunted by his victim's father and eventually given a 33 year prison sentence, Cochran a repulsive figure, so enrages the father that he loses his temper, I believe for the only time, on camera and calls him what he is and shakes with rage. A few year later Cochran comes down with a case of
brain cancer. Think about that shit.
A lot of people got what they wanted, justice, or perhaps at this point righteous vengeance took a bit longer and is still having its way.
What is f'ing disgusting for the rest of us really is that this shit is still a huge part of our daily lives and here we are again.
