Ohio voters pour more oil on the Blue wave.

so they are going to do this seat again in like 2-3 months right? I wondered why they even had the election? Why not just appoint someone for those 2-3 months. Id understand if it was years.

The constitution does not allow the appointment of any representatives.

The only thing it indicates is things have gotten closer in a Republican dominated district.

The results in districts are correlated with each other. A good result in one district makes it more likely that a party will have good results elsewhere. You are an idiot if you think that the results in any one district are entirely idependent variables and have nothing at all to say about the national makeup.

Columbus is 15th in city populations in the united states. Not as nothing as you'd think. Plus Columbus is a testing ground for retail giants. All their latest ideas get tried out here in the suburban areas. That's why those areas are so damn popular and the houses are 10 times the cost of houses closer to the city center. I bought a house about two miles from downtown that cost less than the down payment I'd have to come up with be up in Dublin or Lewis Center.

The reason it's a testing ground is because there are all types of wealthy people up there. The liberal support was very high last election up in Lewis Center. I lived there at the time and recall lots of hillary signs and several people driving around with slogans on their cars like "Love Trumps Hate". As this area represents what corporate culture deems "average consumers", I think it's fairly accurate to say it also represents what "average voters" might vote.

Just a theory, but I am in the heart of this city and I can tell you it's not unlike Portland Oregon in that there are lots of liberal influences here.

Yeah and it's split up as much as possible to reduce it's voting power by the corrupt Republicans in charge of the state

It's hilarious that Republicans always celebrate *retaining* a seat. Shouldn't that be like the default expectation? I imagine that if they lose 100 seats in the next election, they'll be like "Haha stupid Democrats we beat your asses in 137 elections this time around! So there!" And then they'll put an obnoxious LMAO smiley afterwards.

given that theres only one election that day w/l is the only possible result. It will be different when everything is run at once.

I am quoting directly from the article and comparing charts. The least educated counties voted for Clinton.

Trump won white college graduates and voters with "some college." Clinton won a plurality of all college graduates (49% to 45%). [from Pew Research].

And not having a college degree does not make one "uneducated" unless you are just trying to insult poor people.

\read it again, you are just being stupid

W/l is the only possible result in the 137 seats you will "win" in November too. The reduction in your winning margins in these seats will be strongly correlated with the swing towards the Democrats in the other ones as well.

You don’t have the first clue what you’re talking about. I’ve lived in this district for nearly 15 years and this district defies traditional demographics.

The counties with the lowest educational level are the majority minority counties and they voted for Clinton by 7% although Trump voters increased in those counties compared to 2012; or, put another way, Hillary's support declined compared to Obama. See last chart and read carefully.

If I am being "stupid," explain what the last chart illustrates.

Pat Tiberi won the district last time by 14% of the vote and Democrats have higher turn outs in Delaware county in Presidential cycles. That’s a hell of a swing in a district Republicans have dominated for 30 years.

....and the Democratic Party of the Jackass still lost. ;)

I was born in Southern Ohio, and considering my family still living there, and what I know, this isn't surprising in the least. It's why family doesn't discuss politics. It's my rule, and if it's not heeded, I'd probably just walk away.

The left is always "segregating" anyone that disagrees. This case is geographical, next it might be gender related (war on women), then sex (segregating people based upon the type of sex they wish to engage) and always their two favorite things to separate and divide would be someone's EARNED INCOME and RELIGION. Its the only way for them garner political power as their true base consists of less than 18% of the population...so they must preach Class Warfare, Sexual tolerance/intolerance depending upon the talking point of the day, gender politics, education (they preach they are so much smarter than anyone they disagree with), then comes the RACE BAITING/CARD. The left does not want ASSIMILATION...it must have division.

One thing you can count on is the fascism that rests in the heart of all leftists. ;)

"Ohio special election: In final results, Trump-backed Republican wins tight congressional race"

"COLUMBUS, Ohio - After all votes were counted, Republican Troy Balderson won a surprisingly tight race to replace former U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi in a closely watched central Ohio district."

Things aren't looking as bright for the Democrats in November.

The fact that it was close in that district means a LOT.
