Ohio police shoot pregnant woman

‘Are you going to shoot me?’ Woman asks before Ohio police fatally shoot her

WESTERVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) — Footage from body-worn camera shows a pregnant woman asking police, “What, are you going to shoot me?” seconds before an Ohio officer fatally shot her outside a grocery store.

Blendon Township released body camera footage Friday from two police officers that showed the brief encounter with, and shooting of, Ta’Kiya Young, 21, who died later after being taken to St. Ann’s Hospital.

Young died August 24 after one of two responding officers shot her through the front windshield of a car, outside a Kroger whose employees claimed Young and others were stealing alcohol. The police department has declined to identify the two officers who approached Young’s car that evening, citing victims’ rights legislation called Marsy’s Law.

If she had just pointed a shotgun at them she'd still be alive.

Yep

AMBRIDGE, Pa. (AP) — A man is in custody on assault charges after a witness told police he pointed a shotgun at two women and attempted to enter a predominantly Black church in a small steel town just outside Pittsburgh in western Pennsylvania.

Jeffrey Harris, 38, was being held in Beaver County jail on $975,000 bail Thursday, awaiting a preliminary hearing next week. He is charged with aggravated assault and a handful of other counts.

Harris, who is white, was arrested a block away without a shot being fired. He was taken into custody in Ambridge, a community of nearly 7,000 people about 16 miles (25 kilometers) northwest of downtown Pittsburgh.

Shotgun-wielding man reported outside a Black church in Pennsylvania arrested, police say

Why can't these people just stop and comply

She gassed it with a cop in front of her..a 3500pound weapon

Both cops had body cams. The one cop positioned himself in front of the car specifically to keep her from driving off with the other cops arm still in the window.

All she needed to do to stay alive was NOT try to run someone over.

she wasn’t thinking nor caring for her 2 boys, unborn child nor herself as she tried to flee from police

Cop was directly in front of the car and she knocked him off his feet. The narrator makes the point that both his feet were lifted off the ground. She could have killed someone

By the book actually. They are putting themselves on the line to protect the public. Once you cross the line you are a criminal and the police will assess the level of threat. Continue to resist and you escalate the situation. The police were doing their job.

Assault on cop with a 3500 pound weapon and could have hit someone else while fleeing who did Ashley Babbitt assault?

Did the POS with the shotgun comply with police orders and drop his weapon?

Did this POS comply with police orders and put her weapon in park? Or did she ignore police and push the trigger on her weapon

All she had to do was comply and get out of the car!

Tragically stupid.
A bit trigger happy. There's a tragic trend there in some cases.

Young's death is among a spate of recent high-profile cases in the United States of police officers accused of using excessive force in the deaths of Black people and other minorities, sparking calls for U.S. criminal justice system reforms.

The incident took place in the parking lot of a grocery store in Blendon, 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Columbus, the state's capital....

...Young later died at a nearby hospital. Her unborn baby daughter did not survive.

Belford previously said on Facebook that police officers were called to the store to assist a shopper who was locked out of their vehicle.

Both officers, who the department has not publicly identified, have been placed on administrative leave. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting the investigation.
