Oh look a well-regulated militia

No that is this guys job

so in reading the article from the OP, the charges are 'criminal attempt to commit a felony', which sounds suspiciously like a thought crime, and weapons charges, yet the article doesn't state that the suspect was a felon in possession or that he lacked a concealed carry permit...........so i've got a feeling that these charges are not going to stick............

the same might apply to the kentucky dude..........except for carrying a weapon in to the hospital, was there any real crime?

Yeah that's a good question. If the motive is not known, then what charges would they stick on them?

my guess would be for just a way to hold him while they fish for something that will stick..........which would normally be a violation of his rights, but most people don't care about the rights of others as long as they're allowed to feel safe

So you think there is nothing wrong with loading yourself down with weapons and walking into a business or hospital? Really???
No crime? Go try it and see what they charge you with, after they have you evaluated for mental illness.

There ya go, if do not know my motive you cannot detain me, wonder what would happen if they walked into a elementary school, wait to find out what their motive is?

Also a good point. Shoot and ask questions later.

if there is no law or statue that prohibits someone from doing that, then it's LEGAL. If something is LEGAL, but you don't like it, why should someone be charged criminally?

So long as where you are doing so is legal, not particularly. On the other hand, you should expect that you are likely to be closely observed and the police / authorities will show up asking what you are doing.

Mere possession isn't a crime necessarily depending on what local laws are.

don't you think that would be a violation of the 4th Amendment?

Not particularly. If you are acting in a clearly suspect manner--such as being armed to the teeth while grocery shopping say--it is within the rights of the business owner to call the authorities on you and for them to subsequently ask what you are doing with so many weapons on you. It doesn't mean they can arrest you (unless that is in violation of local laws) or otherwise detain you beyond a reasonable time to ask you a few relevant questions.

maybe the courts are giving misinformation then, because here in TX it's legal to open carry a long gun and unless a business has the 30.07 sign in clear view at the door, i can enter. So if all of that is legal, what reason would law enforcement have for contacting me if there can be no reasonable suspicion that I have committed a crime, am committing a crime, or am about to commit a crime????
