'Obama's War on Pot'

I post this for Topspin because this is his issue. I got the article from Facebook where a libertarian friend who voted for Obama posted it and claims he won't vote for him again (says he voted for him the first time because of drug laws and says he won't vote for him the second time because of drug laws). It also comes from the Rolling Stone for take it for what it's worth.

We all have our issues we are passionate about and this one ranks pretty low for me but I get why it's a big deal to others. What do you think is driving Obama on this issue?

It's a total mystery to me. I don't see the gain politically, nor can I imagine that it's some sort of personal conviction with him. I'd wager he's getting bad advice from someone, but he's still taking it, which bothers me to no end.

And I'm not all hippy dippy on this one; I don't even smoke any more, and haven't for years. But it's tragic how many kids are behind bars for this basically meaningless, harmless offense...

Since I don't follow this issue I have no idea the answers to your questions. Is it a good thing that Obama is letting this happen?

There are other candidates on the ballot besides Republican and Democrat. Libertarian for one.

that is true. i was just curious who he would consider voting for if not obama....i'm not really a fan of anyone on the GOP side, romney is my top, but i just don't see him being a great gop president.

People would say the same thing to Onceler. By not voting for Obama it's essentially a vote for the Republican candidate. Yes I'm a Republican but I really have no problem with other Republicans voting third party if they do not support the Republican candidate.

i struggle with it. i almost voted 3p last time because i couldn't stand mccain. so i essentially voted for mccain to vote against obama. i don't think there really is a right answer.
