Obama's speech on jobs: Campaign tactics or presidential tactics

Cancel 2018. 3

<-- sched 2, MJ sched 1
obama is set to give a speech on jobs september 7, the same day and i believe time of the gop presidential candidates debates. this was done on purpose. is it campaign tactics or solely presidential tactics or both? i think it is both, however, he is clearly using the presidency to campaign and try to marginalize the gop debate. president's have done this for a long time, but it seems to me obama is taking the tactic to new heights. here is what his spokesman said:

White House spokesman Jay Carney brushed aside concerns the address will overlap with a Republican presidential debate scheduled for the same night at the Reagan library in California.

"This is the right time to do it (and) the right day to do it," Carney said in reference to Obama's speech. If the Republicans want to "adjust the timing of their debate... that would be completely fine with us."

right, it just has to be that exact time, any other time just wouldn't do

See the difference? This kind of stuff is clear ODS.

lmao...the intellectual dishonesty is strong with you. this is actually a current event and is currently being discussed. unlike the worn out 'was cheney really president' schtick...seriously, you're a fool and you're clearly upset for making an ass out yourself with your recent bush thread. in your world, it is never a syndrome to create negative threads about any republican, but oh boy, someone makes a thread you don't like about obama and you immediately rush into to defend him and apologize for him and start with the old BDS!!!!

the guy is president NOW and you expect no one to create any threads about him that you don't like. hack.

This kind of stuff is the "DS" stuff:

"but it seems to me obama is taking the tactic to new heights"

"right, it just has to be that exact time, any other time just wouldn't do"

Nothing really in the quote or story to back that up.

This is the problem w/ people w/ ODS - they're so crazed by their affliction that they can't see very clear differences like this....

i simply asked to know 'what difference'. did bush do this during some dem debate or something? otherwise, no. I can't see 'the difference'.

I was responding to both you & Yurt. But the initial "difference" comment was in direct response to Yurt regarding some other posting he has done today...

ok. so the difference is between yurts post for this thread and his post in another thread......which somehow i'm supposed to know about and see that the 'difference' is a symptom of this sycophantic ODS syndrome.

methinks you protest too much.

I never said you were supposed to know about it....

1. has any other president scheduled a full congressional speech during campaign season when the other parties are already scheduled to have a debate?

2. his spokesperson said "this is the right time and the right way" to give the speech. is it your claim that there is simply no other time, no other right way?

3. what exactly was not backed up on the quote or story?

4. you have not explained the differences. as i predicted, based on your prior refusal to do so. how is it this thread is ODS, but your bush thread is not BDS?

I doubt Obama had anything to do with the scheduling other than to nod like a bobblehead in response to being told when the speech would be.

As far as tactics, it's typical with the way modern liberals think. They detest free speech, unless, of course, the speech that agrees with their preconceptions. As such, they have no problem with doing anything and everything they can to suppress free speech. Witness the numbers of liberals who support the grossly misnamed "fairness doctrine" in media. In this case they hope to pull people away from the republican debates to listen to their Savior babble about that which he knows nothing.

Now, if this is not a new, slimy underhanded tactic, can any democratic supporter point out one time when a republican president held a speech or other media event at the same time as a democratic primary debate?

On #'s 1 & 2, I have no idea, and I'm betting you don't either. Again, the "DS" part is the negative speculating you do with any Obama thread you start...he's "lying," or it's not really a "listening tour," or he's taken this campaign tactic to "new heights."

I posted a quote and said it was what we all knew, but my opinion reflected the sentiment of the quote. I didn't create new speculation or doubt.

Liberals "detest free speech?" That's a new one.

You know, generalizing can be an instant credibility-underminer.
