Obama's "Plan"

Did Obama actually offer a plan during this debate? I've read several times where he proposed a plan with $3 trillion in cuts and a $1 trillion in increased revenue. Was that a Harry Reid plan or just an outline of a plan he said he would support?

This is what a buddy sent me when we were discussing this issue,

"The President offered up a plan with $3tril in spending cuts, and $1tril in closed loopholes and taxes for the richest and corporations. It was a totally viable plan that was refused by the Republican extremists because it dared remove tax breaks for oil companies and owners of private jets. Also, Boehner's plan is not respectable, even his zealots are calling him out on kicking the can down the road for political reasons. The only person to offer a plan that deals with both our out of control spending and the abuses and inequities in the code that allow the wealthiest to escape paying was the President, and it was denied. This whole thing is manufactured and now it has gotten away from Boehner, the world's saddest tangerine."

That was a yawner & inaccurate the 1st time you said it. It's not getting better w/ repetition.

We get it; you don't like Obama. Doesn't change the fact that he has presented a plan.

Just a note to your friend, the President's plan ALSO is kicking the can down the road. But for POLITICAL reasons, he wants to kick it slightly farther than Boehner. The better plan is to kick it out 3-6 months and make these idiots get something done rather than pawning it off on the next Congress.

To be clear... yes... Boehner is also trying to keep it real short term for political reasons as well. I doubt is due to 'good intentions'.

Yeah, I see a lot of people are talking about it... I am trying to find the text.. the specific details... you know, the part of the plan that IS the plan? You see, I haven't read it yet, or evaluated if I support it or not, and I know that I should at least do that, before I condemn it. Perhaps Obama's plan is great and wonderful? I don't know... I can't find it anywhere to determine that. All I hear are platitudes and random numbers being tossed out. I need to see the specific details of Obama's plan, now can you point me to those, or not?

That is not a plan, that is a framework. That is like saying, we are going to win this game with more touchdowns, and claiming that is your game plan.

Sorry, I said I wanted to see the details of the president's plan, not the outline of the president's joke.

Yes, I said "joke" because it's obvious that's what this is, anyone can see the humor. First of all, the math is being calculated by the same people who claim they have saved or created 2.2 million jobs, even though unemployment has gone up 2.5%. So they start off by promising $2 trillion in budget cuts, which are never specified, other than to say they are going to come from discretionary spending and security. Then, they add $1 trillion in tax reform... but Obama himself, already admitted that increasing tax rates on top marginal incomes would not generate more revenues, he told Joe the Plumber he wanted to do it for "fairness." We also have the US Treasury figures over the years, for when we've raised top marginal rates, and it resulted in LESS revenue. It's just a flat out lie that tax reform will lead to $1 trillion in savings, unless Obama plans to heavily tax the middle class AND the poor.

Finally, if this is not enough bullshit to shovel off as a "plan".... they have the audacity to claim another $1 trillion in savings on the debt interest! Yes... this is based, you see, on the phantom unspecified $2 trillion cuts and the mythical non-existent increase in revenue from a tax increase, both of which will never materialize. Basically, Obama's "PLAN" is a speech full of platitudes and demagoguing.
 
According to a recent poll, Obama's handling of the talks is polling higher than the Congressional GOP, so you are losing the debate in the court of public opinion.

Where is the plan? All you have is that President Obama is more popular. Well, Helma Sayak is more popular than President Obama, that must mean her plan is better.

I see you still have yet to present President Obama's plan. You're too focused on the high school like popularity contest. Sorry, but just because President Obama may be more popular than congress does not mean he has a plan. You can throw your pom poms around for President Obama all day, but that does not produce a plan. Just because I disagree with President Obama on many issues, does not mean I fear or hate him.
