Someone posted this on Facebook from the Baucus Bill:
From p. 29 of the Baucus Bill (Obama's new health reform plan): Excise Tax. ...the excise tax for failing to obtain coverage for an individual in a taxpayer unit... is $750 per year. However, the maximum penalty for the taxpayer unit is $1,500.... ... the maximum penalty amount a family above 300 percent of FPL would pay is $3,800.
Of course until this bill is signed by Obama and this language remains in the bill its only something being proposed. But if that occurs then does seem to violate his no new tax pledge.
