Ouch! I've played hoops all my life and have been hit numerous times but never bad enough to have to get stitches let alone 12. That must have been a serious elbow. (A Golden St. Warriors player, David Lee, a couple of weeks had his arm go into a players mouth and the guy lost a tooth into Lee's arm. Lee's arm got seriously infected.)

I think Obama plays these pick-up games with friends and co-workers. I couldn't imagine elbowing the CEO of my company and sending him in for stitches let alone doing it to the President.

I would do it. When I was in the Marines, we'd have little grappling matches all the time. Sometimes SNCOs and officers would join in. Whenever I was paired against one I did my damnedest to hurt them, without looking like that was my intent. Didn't always work out though, but it was funny when I'd watch one of the higher ups limping or nursing their ribs the next day.

The elbow belongs to Rey Decerega, who works for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. According to White House aides, Decerega went up for a shot and turned into the President, who was playing defense and accidentally got hit in the mouth.

mr. decerega has an awesome story to tell his family :D

thats pretty funny to be known as the guy who gave a president a swollen upper lip

Its weird, considering that our last two presidents were into cardio, to have a president that plays basketball. I like Nixon the best, when it comes to sport of preference. Its hard to say which bores me more, Bush's biking or Clinton's jogging...
