See, Rana, this is what you recall hearing when it came to that famous Bush phrase. It was not used against the left, it was routinely used BY the left to infer that Bush said if you didn't agree with him, you were with the terrorists. I know it's been like 8 years ago since most lefties were doing this, but Beefmiester is a bit behind the curve as usual. He still wears parachute pants!

Any time somebody of a liberal bent opposes conservatives or their positions, we're called "un-American" or worse.

We opposed the Iraq war, Guantanamo, torture, profiling foreigners, birthers, etc. etc. and we're called "un-American or terrorist supporters".

We defend Park 51, equal rights, presumption of innocence with detainees, pathway to citizenship for illegals, abortion rights, etc. etc. and we're still called "un-American, terrorist supporters or murderers".

Conservatives have made a regular cottage industry out of smearing liberals with those labels and only a fool believes it isn't true. This entire forum is a case in point.

Bush didn't call Americans "the enemy" - I actually have to go w/ Dix on that one. I knew what he was trying to say, though I didn't love the tone of it, but that's just personal taste.

Still, it's a little weird for Dixie to be arguing this, after calling so many people traitors for opposing what we now know was a stupid war...

Well, 30 million liberated Iraqi people disagree with you, along with about 100 million American voters. Yeah, it was a really stupid idea to turn an enemy in that region into an ally... what were we thinking?
