Oh, yes. Having youth spend a total of three months, spread over a number of years, helping communities and learning how to deal with emergencies/crisis that may arise is such a travesty. The man is wacko.

This idea of indoctrination is nonsense. Republican views may be presented during Republican administrations and Democratic views may be presented during Democratic administrations so as governments change different ideas will be represented so there will be no indoctrination into one view unless helping out ones neighbour/community is a view to be avoided.

Talking about avoided it seems helping the State is to be avoided at all costs. That appears to be the main objection. With every young citizen compelled to enlist a variety of ideas/beliefs will be present. The only constant will be young people trained to assist in emergencies and helping communities. Is that the great evil to be avoided?

How long before Jon Stewart starts mocking it? The longer it is up, the greater the joke will become.

Oh I can explain it real easy... You have been brainwashed by socialists to believe Jesus was a Socialist too. There is no basis for this, it's a false perception drawn by cleverly comparing things Jesus did with things associated with Socialist policy, but Jesus never advocated Socialism. He did advocate personal responsibility, which is contrary to most everything socialist. Also, very curiously, there has never been a Socialist Christian country... EVER! If Socialism were so deeply tied to Jesus, don't you think maybe a FEW socialist countries would be followers of Jesus? Instead of NONE... EVER? In fact, every long-standing Socialist experiment, has been devoid of religion and religious freedom. Seems like the preferred method of government for Jesus would be more widely accepting of his teachings.

There've been plenty of "Christian countries" (at least as "Christian" as America can be said to be "Christian") that were ruled by Socialist parties for a period of time.

Countries are not mono entities. The Christian strain of socialism was never as popular as the secular strain and so faded into history. Most Christian Socialists are perfectly fine with supporting non-theocratic socialist parties in the modern world anyway.

Jesus had no preferred method of government. Jesus is just an all-positive thing that people attach all positive attributes to. To conservatives, he's a conservative, to socialists, he's a socialist. He is, in fact, an advocate of whatever political ideology the individual who believes in him happens to support. If you disagree, find me an example of one person who says "Oh, I'm a conservative, even though Jesus was really a liberal", or vice versa. That would be impressive. Pretending as if you're different and have found the true interpretation is just going to merit an eye roll, because you're just like all the rest and too blind too see it.

The public face of the Nazi party was unwaveringly pro-Christian. How on Earth am I supposed to "brainwash you into not believing in God" by constantly blasting you with Christian doctrines to justify atrocities? The anti-semitic purges in the Nazi era were just one long path that lead out of middle age populist anti-semitism. You know that Crusade you loved so much for "killing those heathens" (the words you use to describe the defenseless Christian, Muslim, and Jewish children who were massacred after the Europeans took Jerusalem)? The first thing the crusaders did upon beginning the crusades was to head north into Germany to kill as many Jews as possible. Entire Jewish communities often decided to commit suicide rather than to submit to your noble crusaders.

That is the legacy of Christianity on Europe - the murder of millions of innocent people. Jesus supported it. You would at the time as well. You would've gladly walked up to as many Jews as possible and put bullets in their head had you grown up to the culture. You would've shot me as well for trying to stop your murder. You would've gone to Jerusalem gladly and laughed sadistically as you thrust your sword into a defenseless child who was merely begging for his life, a child you're too ignorant and stupid to know is a Christian as well.
