Obama on Rushmore

are you really that stupid, that other words and phrases can't mean the SAME thing...:pke:

simply by virture = strictly, solely, etc...

and who the hell said i was sountherner

No, it doesn't mean the same thing. Simply by virtue meaning his being the first black president is enough of a historically significant reason for him to be up there, though not necessarily the only reason. He'll give us plenty of other reasons as his presidency progresses.

Simply by virtue does not mean solely by virtue. Simply/solely are not even close.

personally, i'd consider it an insult to be on mount rushmore. lets look at the 4 on there now.

george washington - nickname 'town destroyer', given to him by the Iroquois during the revolution which destroyed at least 40 Iroquois villages.

Thomas Jefferson - a fundamentalist of individual unalienable rights....til he became president and found out how much the constitution restricted the federal powers.

Theodore roosevelt - On August 13 and 14, 1906, Brownsville, Texas was the site of what has come to be known as the Brownsville Affair. Racial tensions were high between white townsfolk and black infantrymen stationed at Fort Brown. On the night of August 13th, one white bartender was killed and a white police officer was wounded by rifle shots in the street. Townsfolk, including the mayor, accused the infantrymen as the murderers. Without a chance to defend themselves in a hearing, President Roosevelt dishonorably discharged the entire 167 member regiment due to their accused "conspiracy of silence".

Andrew Jackson - trail of tears

All 4 of them intent on subjugation of people in one form or another.

You're also the guy who thinks you can take over the country with a rabble of other hicks with rifles.

you are arguing like dixie.

By the way, the 9/11 hijackers didn't take over the government.

thats debatable. what has happened since 9-11? our whole government changed to one of total disrespect, practically threw away, civil rights. all in the name of the war on terror. I'd say they came real damned close.

I'm clearing up what I said.

I have said twice now that he'll give us plenty of other reasons eventually. If you guys wnat to keep claiming that I think the only reason he should be up there is because he's black and that somehow makes me a racist, then go ahead. It's clearly not what I intended.

Right now, it's enough of a historical reason that he's the first black president because of what that represents to put him up next to Lincoln. That'll change.

the fourth is Lincoln, not Jackson

Should I now be ashamed to ever again agree with STY because he didn't know who was on Mt. Rushmore? I mean, I do agree with him sometimes. But the handle "Smarter Than You" just took a big hit, didn't it. :)

He deserves it simply by virtue of being the first black president.
