i've heard this claim from multiple libs on this board in the past few days. anything to defend obama. well....obama's defense secretary is at odds with the libs on this board....why is that?

Gates: US expects to hand off Libya lead in 'days'
ON BOARD A MILITARY AIRCRAFT – U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Sunday that the U.S. expects to turn control of the Libya military mission over to a coalition — probably headed either by the French and British or by NATO — "in a matter of days."

we have british libs like tom claiming that obama is taking a back seat....a behind the scene if you will role in this....yet....we have obama's secdef saying the US will stop their leadership role and turn over control to the "a coalition."

explain obama followers, how this makes sense...

It's interesting to watch your posting through this entire situation. You're entire m.o. seems to be about nailing "libs" in your usual "gotcha" thing.

It's a developing story; things are changing every few hours. Why not just chill & see what happens?

odd....because here you are trying to get the infamous onceler gotcha on yurt.

instead of focusing on the fluid situation, you're focused on me. why don't you come out of your comfort zone of "attack yurt with every living breath i have" and focus on the thread topic...

don't make me report you to nannyzappa!

No attempt at a "gotcha"; just commenting. It doesn't matter what the dynamics of the situation are - and they are ever-changing - you're on your usual lib-hypocrisy hunt...

We have all the hardware so it's natural that we're the ones doing most of the heavy lifting when it comes to blowing shit up.

I hope I'm wrong, but this whole affair has disaster written all over it.

What's your prognosis on what might go down?

I just don't see the no fly zone accomplishing much of anything without additional significant support for the opposition. I can't imagine that we're simple going to patrol the skies while Qaddafi slaughters people on the ground and we're going to end up getting dragged into a long drawn out civil war at best. And that's not a good thing. I don't see any hope for a negotiated resolution and without that the prospects for a positive outcome are not very good.

IT is my opinion that Obama's administration is pulling the strings in the background, but for maximun effectiveness they are making it look like the USA is not leading or running this thing.

The only thing a NFZ will do, if it does not "accidently" kill Quadaffy, would be to stop the Pro-Quadaffy advances against the rebels.

Unfortunately the 'strings' are being pulled by pres Sarkastic of France and Cammers of the lower fifth in England. Cammers is doing a Thatcher because he knows he will be hung out to dry when the British electorate ditch the Liberals and the coalition isdestroyed. Either way I agree that there is a strong likelihood of the whole thing going pear-shaped. They, like bush baby, have no exit strategy.
All these years under my belt and I still cannot understand why we elect incompetents!

Id like the cons on this board to commit to what they belive. The way it stands now, if its very successfull they will say Obama was not involved, if its unsuccessfull they will blame him.
