Despite China's firm and repeated opposition, USA leader Obama has given audience to Dalai Lama.

it is unwise to fete an exile leader and further offend the most important foreign partner of the United Sates.

China urges the United States to take concrete actions for healthy development of bilateral ties.

It was regardless of China's repeated solemn representations for the USA to obstinately arrange the meeting between Obama and the Dalai Lama.

The USA act grossly violated norms governing the international relations, and ran counter to the principles set forth in the three China-
USA joint communiques and the China-USA joint statement.

It also went against the repeated commitments by the USA government that the USA recognizes Tibet as part of China and gives no support to "Tibet independence".

We demand the USA seriously consider China's stance, immediately adopt measures to wipe out the baneful impact and stop conniving and supporting anti-China separatist forces that seek "Tibet independence."

The USA should stop interfering in China's internal affairs and make concrete actions to maintain healthy and steady growth of China-USA relations.
 
Obama pledged to build "a positive, cooperative and comprehensive USA-China relationship for the 21st century" during his China visit last November, but his pledge has failed merely three months later.

The Dalai Lama pursues his illusion to split China in the guise of religion.

Obama promised to bring change to America, yet change is not seen on the issue of meeting the Dalai Lama.

Why?

By playing the Tibet card at such a juncture, Obama is trying to shift the attention of both supporters and opponents when he is faced with a sagging economy and a much tougher midterm election for the Democrats.

Tibet's exiled leader, the Dalai Lama, has abandoned his long-standing position calling for Tibetan autonomy, declaring Tibet to be part of China.

The shift has emerged in a series of media interviews and a statement last Thursday marking the anniversary of the failed uprising by Tibetans against Chinese occupation in 1959, when the Buddhist monk-leader went into exile in India.

The Dalai Lama, who turns 70 this year, appears to have accepted that China should control the political and economic affairs of Tibet and guarantee its culture, religion and environment.

This is a distinct shift from the plan he has proposed up to now, first delivered in a speech at the European Parliament in Strasbourg in 1988, that Tibet should be a "self-governing democratic political entity" with Beijing responsible for its external defence and foreign affairs.

The Dalai Lama has also referred to his homeland as the Tibetan Autonomous Region, the name given by Beijing to the political region that has been shorn of Tibetan-populated areas now administered as part of surrounding Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan provinces.

Dalai Lama has all along tried by every means to meet Western politicians, U.S. presidents in particular, but to further his political end, he has put on a religious disguise to win acceptance and favor in the West.

Obama's move reflected his worries about the decreasing USA influence and the increasing influence of China on the international arena.

The global financial crisis has led to a change in the balance of power.

While the strength of the United States is declining, China is on the rise.
 
"A religious disguise"... You don't even understand the culture. China shouldn't be in Tibet, they have no concept or understanding of the culture and offer nothing to improve their lives.

You are misinformed. No one can deny that Tibet is always a part of China. Tibet is never an independent country.

Swayed by an urge to please the public, Western leaders, more often than not, make the unwise decision to meet the Dalai Lama.

The Dalai Lama some times makes undisguised political advocacy while meeting Western politicians though he claims to be "merely" a religious figure.

In 1992, for instance, he sent a letter to USA President Clinton, who just sworn in as the president, overtly trying to enlist his support for "independence of Tibet."

Since the March 14 Lhasa riot in 2008, the Dalai Lama has visited Western countries far more often,trying to woo Western politicians.

But the international community is becoming more skeptical of the Dalai Lama's political intention, and more Westerners are getting to know more truth about Tibet-related issues.

As a result, the Dalai Lama has to resort to more PR campaigns to turn the table.

Some in the West tend to view China through a colonialist perspective, and are reluctant to face the reality that China, as a sovereign state, is not to be budged by the West on any issues.

Everybody can deny it if they even know half of the history. China couldn't even keep its part of the bargain when Tibet was an autonomous protectorate. They called for help, and all China could offer was defeat. They were able to fight off their invaders without any Chinese help, because the Chinese were too weak to give any...

Petty child of a new government leading China has to follow the same pattern of all new childlike governments and "spread" without regard to the cultures they destroy.

Tibetans immigrated to Tibet several thousand years ago from other parts of China. Yuan emperor established the Xuanzheng Yuan or Ministry for the Spread of Governance to directly handle important military and political affairs of the Tibet region.

Central government of the Yuan Dynasty also dispatched officials into Tibet to conduct censuses, establish the number of corvee laborers in areas under various wanhu offices and decide the number of corvee laborers, provisions and animal transport the areas along the post route had to supply. Such censuses were conducted three times in Tibet, in 1268, 1287 and 1334.

Thus Tibet has been China far longer than stolen native lands have been USA.

Please. They migrated largely from India, with the spread of Buddhism. Some smaller number of people migrated from China and integrated into their culture. The Chinese have nothing in common culturally, they speak a different language, have a different form of government, a different religion, and different values. China has nothing to offer that would ever improve the lives of Tibetans. All China has ever done for Tibet since 1959 has been a net negative value to the lives of Tibetans, formerly a free people now slaves.

How could Tibetans immigrate to Tibet, if there was not Tibet to begin with??

Tibet is part of China. The people who lived there struck up links with the Han in the Central Plains long before.

Throughout centuries, the numerous tribes scattered across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau gradually developed into the Tibetan ethnic group.

By the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907), the Tibetans and Hans had through marriages and other alliances cemented unity and political friendship and formed close economic and cultural relations. This created a solid foundation for the ultimate founding of a unified nation.

Tibet is no more part of China than Costa Rica is part of the US. The Chinese just decided to steal what wasn't theirs. A political friendship doesn't make a different nation with a different culture and values part of any other nation.

Over the past 50 years, the Dalai Lama has made a speech on the so-called "uprising" day, or, as is true, the day marking his failed armed rebellion.

On March 10 last year, the "simple Buddhist monk", who has never been to Tibet since 1959, said the Chinese government have carried out a series of "repressive and violent" campaigns over the years and Tibetans were "literally experienced hell on earth."

If 'hell on earth' was used to describe the old Tibet, it would be most appropriate.

The Dalai Lama is trying to turn black into white in an attempt to mislead the public.

The old Tibet, under the control of the Dalai Lama, was a feudal serfdom darker and more undeveloped than the middle ages in Europe.

Tibet has enjoyed significant development over the past 5 decades and those who are unbiased or have been to Tibet would be well aware of that.

In his speech, the Dalai Lama defended his armed rebellion, saying that it was because of the Communist Party of China's trial of democratic reform that forced Tibetans to launch a "peaceful uprising."

Truth refutes the Dalai Lama's false claims.

The essential cause of the rebellion was because the upper ruling class of the Dalai Lama group realized that the democratic reform, which was imperative under the situation, would lead to the end of feudal serfdom and the emancipation of serfs.

The democratic reform, which was carried out in places outside Tibet then, put an end to the rule and privileges of the three major feudal lords (government officials, monasteries and nobles.

The reform put the feudal lords in Tibet in panic. Under that situation, they chose to launch an armed rebellion.

Feudal serfdom was overthrown in most countries in the 19th centuries but the system remained in Tibet till the mid 20th century.

The democratic reforms carried out by the Communist Party of China aimed to free the serfs and slaves in Tibet.

Since the democratic reform, Tibet has undergone significant changes. Its GDP grew from 174 million yuan (25.6 million USA dollars) in 1959 to 39.591 billion yuan last year.

Tibet did experience twists in its development after 1959, such as the cultural revolution (1966-1976) and communes.

But those problems happened at a special stage in the Chinese history and affected the whole country. They were not problems only with Tibet.

USA must learn to keep out of Chinese policies.

Please. Nobody is stealing children, nor is Haiti occupied even though they asked the US to occupy. The reality is, all China could send is one tiny team of doctors, the US, everything they have.

And if you don't want China to be lectured you should ask China to start acting less brutish.
