Obama: Jesus supports my plan for higher taxes on the wealthy

I never said that Republicans "said" they were hoping for a double dip recession. It is clear that many were however.

And it is very clear what Obama meant too. What's good for the goose.... Look, people make too much about a politicians words when they are on the stump. I've done it too. Now I've spent two mornings watching Joe Scarborough (sp?) and his group hammer Mitt Romney for his "I don't care about the very poor..." comment. It was clear what Mitt meant too. I happen to agree with Obama that Christ would likely agree with using money to help the poor. I'm not so sure that He would think taxation would be the best way to take care of that and I am not so sure it would be a good fix for the economy or the deficit/debt situation. Bottom line is it doesn't bother me that he said that. Obama has never hidden the fact that he considers himself to be a Christian no matter how many goobers out there want badly for him to be a Muslim.

Also, do highlight why it should be MORE progressive on top. As it is we already are protecting the low and middle income families.

Start with a standard deduction of $30k (adjusted for inflation annually) for each adult and then tax every dollar over that $30k at 20% until you hit a million, then every dollar over a million is taxed at 30%. This is simple, easy to understand, fair and progressive. It protects the low-income individuals and couples from paying federal income taxes. It provides the middle-income families a lower effective tax rate than the wealthy. This plan would encompass ALL income, including earned income, capital gains and dividend income.

A person making $30k pays an effective rate of 0%.

A person making $50k pays an effective rate of 8%.

A person making $100k pays an effective rate of 14%.

A person making $200k pays en effective rate of 17%.

A person making $1mm pays an effective rate of 19.4%

Every dollar over that gets hit at 30% according to my plan.

A person making $2mm pays an effective rate 24.7%

A person making $10mm pays an effective rate of 28.94%

What about that is not 'progressive enough' for you?

We've already had this discussion, man. Not interested. Go dig up that thread if you want.

THat is not what he said. Its simply not what he said, no matter how bad CNN wants to get hits on there webcite or how bad you want to make the President seem.

I called you out because YOU are the one I was talking to. CNN is a corporation, not a person, I still belive the two things are different.

i also said bush said essentially the same thing, but you want to focus only on obama.

btw....tell us what YOU think his words mean. you CNN and i are wrong, extrapolate.

No we haven't moron. You ducked the question there too. Why do you incessantly whine whine whine and refuse to EVER put forth what it is YOU would like to see? Fucking moron.

I told you I didn't thing your plan was bad and that it was preferable to the status quo, but that it should be more progressive at the top end through a higher standard deduction. I'd probably do tiered rates instead of an across the board flat rate for increased progressivity at the top end, as well.

something like this?

Again moron... show us an EXAMPLE of your plan. The one I had is ALREADY tiered. As I stated, saying 'we should have more tiers' CAN ALWAYS be said.

Now... again... see if you can answer... WHAT about the numbers I posted is 'NOT PROGRESSIVE' enough?

Can you actually answer that this time or are you going to continually just stomp your feet like a child and say more tiers without addressing WHY we need more.

It doesn't matter...

Yurt will make up whatever insanity he feels like...he then couches his lies behind weasel words like "effectively" so he can deny lying when cornered on his nonsense.

His hatred for Obama runs that deep.

Did the Amazing Yurskin read dung's mind to arrive at those figures or are you just making up bullshit off the top of your pointy little head again?

I already explained why we need more tiers -- to make it more progressive at the top end. Tax rates should flatten out at the top, but under your plan they flatten out at too low an income level.

I understand that crafting up fantasy tax plans that you have no idea whether they would actually in the real world gets a rise out of you, but I don't your predilections.

funny how you and dune are the same retarded. <-- yes, the same retarded.

dune thinks opinions are lies. and you think a ? is reading someone's mind.

so the next time you ask a question.....don't forget to call yourself yurskin.

Next time just say "No, I am a fucking idiot who is going to say your plan isn't progressive enough and then refuse to point out where in your numbers I am referring to. I am a fucking idiot"

As that would save us both time you fucking moron.

ah, so dung and dune are identical twins.

that makes sense.

Well, that is certainly one way to look at it. Listen, if it made economic sense (and I am not sure if it does or if it doesn't) I wouldn't mind. I know that being a middle class American makes me more "blessed" than many people in this world so I can understand where he is coming from. A guy came by the church building this past Sunday after services and requested help with getting some food for his family. The policy of the church is not to give money so I took the guy grocery shopping for the elders and paid for it with a church check. Then I swung by my house and gave him some frozen ground beef and deer out of my freezer as well. I really think the same way as President Obama (and I think a lot of republicans and democrats too) as well about being blessed and helping others. I am just not sure if it makes financial sense to just tax the wealthy. I saw some numbers the other day and it looks like they are going to have to tax all of us to do any good....that is if they don't cut spending as well.

Yes, eventually we will all have to pay, and make cuts.

I remember a song, "Freedom isn't free, you have to pay the price, you have to sacrifice for your liberty". Up With People, you may not old enough to remember the group of young people who sang and performed all over America.

He told people to give the cloak off their backs. He promoted charity and not putting your stores into Earthly Treaures, as you know.
