Spending increased 700+ billion largely due to Porkulus but never went down as a one time jolt would gave done. And spending kept increasing except for a couple years and then shot to a record high in 2015.
But it is individual tax increases that altered the deficit.
GE et al would like to thank you for picking up the tab. They don't spend all that money on K street for the hell of it.
