Obama escalates war in Afghanistan

What a boneless wonder. Obama said he was going to hire 92000 more troops on his own website.

That seemed weird I thought seeing as how he was supposed to be ending the Iraq war, WHY would we need to hire so many more troops? I asked this many times, MANY times, no answer. After all, it's Republicans that are the war party, the Dems are a change from that and no one more so than Obama.

Now we find out that the amount of troops in Afghanistan is set to DOUBLE next summer, well there's where SOME of those extra troops are going.

Of course since he's been elected we've heard a lot about Obama and Dems lofty (corporate welfare) bailout plans, we've heard about socialist universal healthcare but gee not much about that big Iraq pullout that was supposed to happen.
More guns, more butter, I guess that's "change". I just don't see how anybody could not see this coming. Party's do not switch places in terms of fiscal responsibility. When the Repubs moved left with giant growth in gov spending, it was a certainty that the Dems were going to move even further left and of course not be out-Liberalled.

What gets me is, the same people who were so morally outraged and opposed to any troops dying in the deserts of Iraq under a republican president, seem to have no problem with our troops dying in the mountains of Afghanistan under a democrat president.

The same people who are so opposed to giving a corporation a break on taxes or rewarding success with reductions in tax rates with a republican president, have no problem whatsoever with giving these same corporations billions of taxpayer dollars in bailouts under a democrat president.

Maybe THAT is the "change we can believe in?"
 
I have never had a problem with us sending troops to fight the people who attacked us. By most accounts, Osama bin Laden is pretty much right where he was on 9/11/01: in the hill country on the Afghan/Pakistan border... he is not now, nor never has been, in Iraq.

Bin Ladin, Supported by the Taliban attacked out nation killing 3,000 of our people and the moron who you supported response was to invade Iraq who was in no way shape or form a clear and present danger to our national security. Bush, incompetent fuck that he is, dropped the ball on the real war on Terrorism in Afghanistan and let his buddy Bin Ladin off scott free.

Now Obama's going to take care of the real threat to our nation, kill Bin Ladin while at the same time fixing Bush's fuck up in Iraq.

You're posting is why the rest of the world views conservatives as being incompetent.

The escalation is to fight the Taliban, bin Laden is in the mountains of northern (and nuclear) Pakistan. Do you really think Bush (or any US politician) and a ton of special force people have not been trying to find him for the last 7 years?
You don't need 30,000 more troops to find one man, they are there to fight the Taliban, nothing more.
Why is it that on the left, only blackascoal seems to understand where Obama and Dems really are on foreign policy?

If Obama was truly to the left .. HE WOULDN'T BE FUCKING CHASING GHOSTS IN AFGHANISTAN NOR WOULD HE BE THREATENING TO MURDER MORE INNOCENT PEOPLE IN PAKISTAN

Obama said a lot of shit during the campaign .. including pretense that he's a man of peace, an antiwar candidate, and one who understood the failures that got us in Iraq.

Perhaps you missed it .. but the world sees democrats just as equally incompetent .. and you validate that with the notion that chasing Bin Laden into Pakistan with the military makes any damn sense at all.

Did he tell you he was going to threaten Iran as well?

Did he tell you he was going to stack his administration with war hawks and wouldn't have a single person near him who was against the invasion of Iraq?

He has always said he would increase the troop numbers in Afganistan, it is time to end that war also, but it has not yet been fought.

Most Americans aren't against the war in Afghanistan. That is the problem. You don't change policy until you change public opinion. americans will never be anti-war, in my opinion. They will only be anti-costly wars. If it costs us in blood, then it's no good. In American blood, of course.

I have been hopeful that Obama knows this, as I know this, and was going to pull down troops from Iraq, put some in Afghanistan, wait a while, declare "victory" and then pull them out of there too. I don't know that he's going to do that. I know that no one else running was going to do it.

It's un-American. You know this.
