Under the newly released White House National Drug Policy (link http://www.whitehousedrugpolicy.gov/publications/policy… ), Obama is calling for the presence of *any* marijuana in your body to be de jure evidence of driving under the influence.

A. Encourage States To Adopt Per Se Drug Impairment Laws
State laws regarding impaired driving are varied, but most State codes do not contain a separate offense for driving under the influence of drugs … Fifteen states have passed laws clarifying that the presence of any illegal drug in a driver’s body is per se evidence of impaired driving … expand the use of this standard to other states …

Can we all admit Obama is a one term president now. He has now pissed off the pot smokers.

how do they plan on determining if there are any chemicals in your system?

Probably blood tests. They'll have to differentiate between the original drug and any active and inactive metabolites, though. This is the greatest stumbling block to a reasonable approach to this. No standard has been identified to determine impairment vs. non, though, unlike the .08 level with alcohol.

i see alot of violent resistance coming with that edict.

Obama has not been the president we voted for but that doesn't mean we want another Bush in office.
Dude...

He's strengthened unwarranted wiretapping, continues rendition, offers up a SCOTUS Justice who attested to a belief that people suspected of terrorism no longer has rights and should be treated as combatants no matter where they are arrested, strengthens the war on drugs to include the presence of MJ to mean you are "under the influence" and you still think he's better?

What's it going to take?

Marijuana is going to be in your blood long after you smoke it. It's clearly absurd to arrest someone on drugged driving a week after they took their last hit. Or even the next evening.

THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, will not be present. Otherwise the individual would still be affected. What remain in the bloodstream for up to 30 days are the inactive metabolites (breakdown products for a less technical term). These will signify that the individual has used THC at some point within that period, but cannot identify when the use occurred. This is one of the two major drawbacks associated with mj testing at the present time.

Here's a compilation of DUI and DUID regulations for every single state.

http://www.abanet.org/subabuse/manualfinal.pdf

Most of the laws have been in effect for decades. The National Guideline Strategy for 2010 suggested numerous ways to try and control drug trafficking in the country, and get a handle on all the other problems caused by DUI and DUID.

What kind of special idiot thinks that the above is bad? What about the other presidents who were in office when the 15 "per se" states issued their more stringent regulations, where is your criticism of them?

Your latest attempt to smear Obama on an intangible is duly noted.
