Obama disagrees with Jimmy Carter on race issue

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's spokesman publicly disagreed with former President Jimmy Carter on Wednesday over Carter's contention that some conservative opposition to Obama is based on race.

"The president does not think it is based on the color of his skin," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters.

Carter injected race into Obama's struggle for a healthcare overhaul after South Carolina Republican Representative Joe Wilson shouted "You lie" at Obama during a healthcare speech in Congress last week and thousands of conservatives rallied opposition to Obama at demonstrations in Washington

What's funny is how fucking stupid you are....your desperate attempts to blame racism on anyone but those who are guilty of it. As former neocon punching bag Alan Colmes pointed out on his radio show.....the amount of calls he gets where people make some of the most vile racists rants about Obama is hard to deny.

Pay attention, dipstick.....Carter is NO LONGER bound by the protocols of the President's or governor's office. So he can call 'em as he see's 'm (and given that he grew up in an atmosphere where the family church was segregated, he should know).

Obama CANNOT make such calls as President, least he faces a deluge of hues and cries from his opponents and advesaries. Case in point, the neocon fleas jumping on his off the cuff remark about Kenye West. So it's no great mental leap to understand the press secretary's statement.

From the White House to Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Democrats raced to distance themselves from the former president’s claim that racism was behind Rep. Joe Wilson’s “You lie” outburst and other attacks on President Barack Obama.

“Listen, he’s the former president, and he’s entitled to his point of view,” said Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). “I personally believe President Obama and his administration are focused on the issues, and I agree with that.”

“I don’t see this as a racial issue,” added Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.). “There are a lot of people upset about how we on the Democratic side can engage like we have been, and there’s a lot of anger out there. So, I don’t see it as a racial issue.”

I think I posted somewhere here today/yesterday that the tool is being used by the republicans to great effect.

That does not diminish the truth though.

The term "Race card" is a great political tool to weaken truth.

in citizen's world his 100% hatred is of Bush is purely principal while anyone who opposes Obama must do so because of racism. It's kind of like my belief that every hot lesbian in SF really wants me. It's fun to create our own make believe realities.
