Obama: Bush gave iraqis opportunity for democracy

His comments also have ZERO to do with Bush. I would say it's disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

So Bush gets all the blame for everything that goes wrong, but if anything goes right in the conflict he started and democrats gleefully blame him for, then all bets are off and Bush shouldn't be credited.

Is that honest conversation?

I'll repeat a question I posted previously: would you give Hitler praise for bringing Germany's economy back in the '30's?

Sometimes, good things can come out of very bad situations. Bush used terrible judgment and rushed the country to war. He cherrypicked evidence to do so, exaggerated the threat & even lied. Once we invaded, a series of abysmal strategic decisions were made, not least of which was the decision to disband Iraq's army. The toll in death & other costs is almost immeasurable at this point.

In light of such circumstances, talk of giving Bush "credit" or "praise" for one potential positive in Iraq is somewhat laughable, if it wasn't so tragic. I don't give LBJ credit for a peaceful Vietnam. I don't give corporate polluters credit for accelerating the development of wind & solar energy.

There is confusion in your questions good brother.

I wouldn't give LBJ credit for anything positive that happened in Vietnam .. NOR WOULD I GIVE AMERICAN TROOPS SUCH CREDIT .. because if you did, then you would have to credit those who sent them there .. just as you would have to credit Hitler for anything positive in Poland if you credited German troops.

Who was Obama praising when he said the surge worked beyond "our wildest dreams?"

Additionally, there is something even deeper in Obama's confusing words. The Iraq War is now his war .. and he intends to keep 50,000 American troops in Iraq after his partial "pullout" .. and the only ones happy about that are those who don't want o see troops leaving Iraq in the first place.

AND, Defense Secretary Robert Gates says he thinks it would be a good idea to keep a small number of U.S. forces in Iraq past a deadline agreed to by the U.S. and Iraq.

It should be noted that I don't believe any American deserves credit for "democracy" in Iraq, including American troops .. which indirectly credits the man who sent them there.

Americans are too easily played.

Additionally, I'm betting that if you asked Obama he would say he's prasing Bush for his efforts in IRaq, then he's qualify that with some nuanced comment that he was against the war.

It wouldn't be the first time Obama has praised Bush or followed his polices to the letter.

Democrats and the left HOPE the Iraq war is ending, but there is no guarantee that it is.

It looks more so to be the case everyday. Our Albatross, our Waterloo.
