obama blocks texas voter id law

Govt can't take a fundamental right away. When this nation was founded, only property owners were allowed to vote.

hughes amendment: FOPA 86
lautenberg amendment
right to carry a handgun
right to resist unlawful arrest or unlawful entry
right to travel freely by popular means of the day

these are all rights that government 'took away'.

The right to vote isn't being taken away. You have to prove who you are to buy a gun with a photo ID. Right?

that's sorta the whole point. how can the government require an ID to exercise a right?

Actually, they are protecting your right from being abused by those who break the law. We want to make sure all those who own guns are legally able to do so, or do you think anyone should be able to own a gun.

so forcing me to jump extra hoops to prove i'm legally allowed to exercise my own fundamental rights is protecting them? seems........off.

or do you think anyone should be able to own a gun.
I do think that. why is that wrong?

It's not wrong. Why is it wrong to ask for people who vote to prove who they are if we ask people to prove who they are to buy guns, cash a check, use a credit card, which are all "rights".

The ABUSE is from allowing people who are not legal to abuse rights. By allowing people who are not legal to vote, we are allowing abuse of our rights which cheapens our rights by corrupting them.

using a credit card is not a right. not sure where you got that idea. cashing a check is not a right either.

given that i edited my post while you were making this one, please read the rest of it and reply again. I would like you to have the opportunity to better understand my position.

People need a photo ID to cash a check or use a credit card in many instances. Where is the outcry? You sadly stupid lefty morons.

And who would listen to the outcry of these "folks" who have some skin or scales in the game?

Do you think felons should be allowed to own guns immediately after being released from prison for a felony crime using a gun?

yes, because if you can't be trusted with a gun, then you can't be trusted without a custodian. therefore, stop releasing felons whom can't be trusted outside of prison.

Prisons are over crowded now. Where are you going to get the money? More taxes? No thanks. I'll let them prove they can be trusted in society first.

If they lived here and were born here how would they go about getting ID? :dunno:

Oh, geez, I see your point. How could I have been so stupid not to see it.

I live here and I was born here. How did I go about getting ID? How about you? Do you live here and born here...how did you get ID?

you could clear thousands who are in for simple pot possession. and really, does telling said released violent felon that they can't own a firearm actually stop them?
