Why is it that Obama was correct then and is incorrect now? Because then he agrees with your position and now he does not? odd...you seem to agree with obama now because it fits your world view. he has only changed his tune because he wants to spend the money, everything he said back then holds true today. its absolutely ridiculous to claim it doesn't. it is a sign of failed leadership, it does weaken us by making us more reliant on foreign countries to sustain us, it is a sign of reckless spending, it is unfair to our children and grandchildren and americans do deserve better.

We do deserve better, but not to the detriment of our own! There are so many other areas that could be cut and our tax dollars could better serve our nation, but people won't address those, or I should say, the lobbyist won't let that happen!

The government doesn't need to stop spending it just needs to balance the budget. If are budget was balanced every year from now on we would adventually pay back all of out debt. Paying back the debt takes a hudge chunk of the budget every year so lets balance the budget and stop adding to the debt.
You called them out when you were shamed into doing so, and it's the only time you'll ever call them out. Frankly, it's embarassing to watch. I don't know what it is about the righties here & nationally that has earned such hackish allegiance from you....
I've already made my position clear: the debt ceiling is stupid. Congress enacts the taxing and spending policies as it sees fit. Having a fight about the debt ceiling and whether we should pay for what Congress has already spent or instead default on our debt with all of the attendant consequences is stupid and is an invitation for hostage negotiations.

the debt ceiling is good for proper fiscal restraint. without it, and you obviously support it, congress has essentially an unlimited spending budget. why bother with fiscal responsibility, let's continue our reckless fiscal policy that obama complained of 2006 and raise the debt the ceiling. its great to be in debt more and more to foreign countries. its just awesome to saddle our children with enormous debt loads. it makes this country strong to be more in debt to foreign powers.

Economic growth lowers birth rates. The more aid and economic opportunities america provides developing countries the lower their birth rates get. Economic growth all ways results in declinning birth rates.
With or without it Congress has an unlimited spending budget. Clearly. It does nothing to bring about fiscal responsibility. In the end, the debt ceiling will almost certainly be raised as it has every other time it has come up for a vote.
