Obama outlined plans Monday to nearly quadruple the size of U.S. Special Operations forces in Syria, saying it was needed to keep pressure on the Islamic State.

Obama emphasized that the new troops are “not going to be leading the fight on the ground” but that they would work with local forces.

The expanded U.S. military presence in Syria is aimed in part at helping to expand the ranks of Arab fighters in a network of groups, now dominated by Kurdish fighters, that the United States is backing as it battles the Islamic State. The additional U.S. forces work with Kurdish militiamen and others as they seek to isolate Raqqa, the Islamic State’s de facto capital in Syria.

"These terrorists will learn the same lesson as others before them have, which is your hatred is no match for our nations, united in the defense of our way of life,” Obama said.

The decision to increase the number of Special Operations forces in Iraq and Syria was made this month. Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter announced additional troops for Iraq during a visit to Baghdad last week.

Obama also has authorized U.S. commanders in Iraq to use Apache attack helicopters and deploy American advisers with Iraqi units.

We used to see war protests all the time when the chimp was in office. Why don't we see protests when Obama sends our boys and girls off to a battlezone to die? And if there are protests, why don't media outlets cover them like they did when Chimpy McFlightsuit was in office?

I don't know what "Arabs" this is talking about -but that has to be the plan.
This makes a lot more sense then arming "Syrian rebels" -who promptly defected to ISIS -or whom had their weapons caches seized.
ISIS is being rolled back. Before it was just the Iranian backed militias doing the job; now if these unknown "arabs" ( Sunni tribes?)
actually buy into to war....there are your boots.

They are out gunned -but a very effective fighting force ( peshmerga in Iraq)..

No, idiot, I said it. Show me a link to one of the stories about a war protest critical of Obama in the last year -- you know, recent -- Oh, but wait a sec, there are none. I googled earlier to try to find some as I wrote above.

Like I said, at least some people are protesting. But it's obvious that the main stream media outlets refuse to cover the events in a way similar to how they covered war protests during chimpy's years. Do you agree? Or do you think they are giving equal coverage of the events?

Although O-BOMB-YA is definitely a warmonger, he didn't invade Iraq or Afghanistan on a pretext, so maybe his war crimes aren't as sexy.

They no longer them "wars", but if you google "protest drones", you will find them. Protesters haven't gone away.

We are still active. Code Pink is still out there, still protesting the drone program.

There've been a few war protests since Obama took office.

2009 - March 21, March 21, 2009 anti-war protest. A march on the Pentagon and Crystal City, Virginia sponsored by ANSWER.

2010 - March 20 - March 20, 2010 anti-war protest. March on the White House against wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

2013 - September 7 - NO War Against Syria - Over 500 people gathered to demand an end to the drive to war. Organized by the ANSWER Coalition, the protest was supported by a wide range of organizations including Code Pink, United National Anti-war Coalition and the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party.
