Reminds me of the totally out to lunch morons who yap that America is the richest nation on Earth, and that we have the best medical system.
There are countries out there with a higher per capita wealth, but they are mostly tiny. Given the amount of poverty, we have some very rich people in America.
Out healthcare system sucks, but we have some great healthcare. We are a huge, wealth nation with a great higher education system, so we should have a fantastic healthcare system. That is what makes our sucky healthcare system so surprising.
NYC is irreplaceable to humanity. It keeps becoming more and more important. Its biggest problem is that it is in so much demand that it is expensive to live there.
The irresponsibility of the leaders of NY and NYC, just as one example decades of not even pretending to keep the MTA in a state of good repair, or to manage it with any degree of skill, was criminal.
That we let our leaders get this bad in quality will never be forgiven.

I am old enough to see the subway system of the 1970's as a child. The graffiti was beautiful, but things were in complete collapse. The subway system could be better today, but it is still far safer and better than the roads in most other places.
You should look into that, because you are wrong.....the subway system has never been worse than it is now...not just the tubes and the systems....but the rolling stock.....the management........the extensive amount of fraud waste and abuse.....which almost no once cares about.

Manhattan is extremely expensive, because people are desperate to live there. It is called supply and demand. The supply of Manhattan is limited, but the demand for Manhattan is nearly unlimited. The rest of America... Not so much anymore.
