NYC arrest records: Many Occupy Wall Street protesters live in luxury

The basic principles that the Occupy movement is going for are more along the lines of creating more public jobs, having things like higher ed & public transportation at no cost, and higher taxes on those in the highest income bracket. The movement as a whole is not for eliminating wealthy people.

Are you going to find some protesters in there who believe in communism and/or the elimination of classes? Sure, but I would wager very few. That's not what the movement is about.

"...public jobs..." ie: Government jobs.
They want a nanny state.

There is a lot of irony in that last statement. That's pretty much exactly what you're doing w/ "occupy" - mischaracterizing them based on a few interviews you've seen, or generalizing assumptions. You are what you criticize.

And I've never called the TEA party racist or bigoted in a monolithic way, as you are characterizing this protest movement.

A few interviews ?....I've seen and heard at least 20 or 30 of them.....all young, usually students, inexperienced, naive, middle class, with Ipads, cellphones and laptops galore, tattooed, jobless and clueless, and notoriously liberal voting Democrats.....

The direct opposite of the Tea Party....middle aged to seniors, working at jobs or retired, vets, educated, and knowledgeable TAXPAYERS....

Granted there are some boneheads in both movements, we all understand that.....

What's wrong with being young, middle class & owning laptops?

And you're posting on a thread that contends that there are quite a few rich folks there, which apparently is hypocritical (though I'm still not sure why).

I too was going to comment on that ....but then I realize how futile it is....

The pinheads firmly think that government can create jobs in the humongous numbers that are required when we know its impossible....

The government wastes money, spends out wealth, and hampers our economy....its always has and always will.....

Yes, no doubt a lot of them will end up old and cynical like you. What I can't really understand is what exactly are they doing that you hate so much anyway? Did they nearly totally fuck up the world's economies? Did they make obscene amounts of money and laugh at the poor bastards that suffered for their greed?

I was watching the news today about the campers outside St. Paul's cathedral and there were several former traders there who were able to give an insider's view.

Some of the homes where “Occupy” arrestees reside, viewed through Google Maps and the Multiple Listing Service real estate database, are the definition of opulence.

since you are talking less than 1000 people why use words like many and some rather than exact numbers

The rich are the worst of the lot...like the Hollywood elite?....Pinheads that have too much for doing too little.....

The young pinheads only have Ipads, cellphones, laptops, tents, food, homes, etc.,.... whatever the hell else they have because its all been GIVEN to them....most of them never worked as anything more that salesgirls, clerks, waiters, and berger flippers...they never paid a school tax, bought a car, or have a family to care for..they don't produce, they use.....they are takers and their naivete is thick to see in the dark....

According to Republicans, there's nothing wrong with being rich. Unless, of course, you advocate for those less fortunate that you. Then and only then will being rich be held against you.

WOW...that is some kind of vile, unadulterated jealousy I see rolling off ol bravo.

Poor little crybaby just can't take it that some have it better than he.

They talk like fools, sympathize with those the support the far left, that have been enemies of the US for centuries....they are costing the taxpayers millions of dollars for the clean up of the trash and damage they are doing to the country directly and in the eyes of the world, etc.....

That seems to be the gist of the OP, though I haven't been able to get clarification from Yurt.

Why should they own laptops, when not everyone has one?

So what about the trillions that the so called "investment bankers" cost the world? Actually I think there are many in the world that admire them. I thought that this generation was too concerned with gadgets and trivia and it's been an eye opener to see that they do care about the disaster perpetrated by the cowboys on Wall Street and the City of London.

Pretty much everyone does have access to a laptop or computer, in one form or another.

"Pretty much everyone..."

Would you care to support that statement and by the way, you made the choice to throw in "computer" and that wasn't the gist of the comment.

The comment wasn't that clever, but I wanted to address it. I said pretty much everyone because some people choose to live away from populous areas, but most villages, towns & cities have public access laptops or computers. For practical purposes, there is no difference between a laptop or computer, if someone needs to use the internet, email or any office program.

Why should he have to support it? I travelled through Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam earlier this year. Nearly everybody has mobile phones and there are I-Pads in the most unlikely places and that's the developing world.
