Nurses and their videos: Why'd they stop?

Why did the heroes on the front lines stop making their inspirational videos? Does anyone know why they stopped inspiring us with their playful, light-hearted videos taken from ground zero of the pandemic? They used to tell us it helped them release tension from the unbearably extreme death and utter mayhem that the hospitals had become. Have the nurses gone beyond the state of needing to release tensions? Have they become numb? Whats in store for us when they finally break? Why hasn't Donald Trump spoken about this issue?

Have you not been paying attention to this countries plight? Nurses have been facing a mini hell in many situations and you wonder why after months they aren't cheery and positive? They aren't saints.

Imagine going to work every day, wondering if *this* is the day that you'll catch a deadly disease that you'll bring home to your family.

And so are the real teachers, who face the same dilemma. My daughter is going to set up her class room next week in anticipation of the current hybrid teaching scheme her district has going. This is what she said this morning to me:

"I've just been an emotional wreck with all this. There's too much information coming at us from a million different organizations. It's too much to process. Our classrooms will look like hospital rooms. No rugs, no pillows, no plush stuffed animals or puppets, no dress up, no sharing materials or toys or playing together, no being near each other at tables, no hugs, no smiles because of masks and face shields, etc"

And then she gets to worry about getting sick herself. Her white cells are next to nothing because of her MS meds.

My heart hurts for her and you, I know you worry about her. It’s a horrible situation. Sterilized learning.

I know some people in my circle who were doing that back in March and pretty much through April. Posting selfies or group pics with their PPE and the message was STAY HOME or something to effect.

I stopped by to visit my co-workers the other evening. After hearing the latest hospital rumors [omg, I miss that lol] I asked them ‘so how’s the COVID situation’. And it was like ‘meh, we have some cases upstairs but people are recovering and leaving’.

Keep in mind they furloughed me in late March [went ahead and retired] so the difference in tone was stunning for me. When I left people were walking around with N-95’s and face shields. I see more people in masks at Walmart now.

Things have definitely changed.
