The NRA’s top lobbyist said in an interview Sunday on “This Week” that “No one thinks that people should go into a nightclub drinking and carrying firearms,” said Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA. “That defies common sense. It also defies the law.”

Trump said “If some of those wonderful people had guns strapped right here, right to their waist or right to their ankle, and one of the people in that room happened to have it and goes boom, boom, you know that would have been a beautiful sight folks.”

Trump walked back his repeated assertion that the mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub could have been prevented if more people had been carrying firearms.

The claim, which Trump has made on the campaign trail and in television interviews, has been heavily criticized by gun safety advocates and drew a striking rebuke from the National Rifle Association.

“When I said that if, within the Orlando club, you had some people with guns, I was obviously talking about additional guards or employees,” Trump tweeted Monday morning.

Gee I wish I had been smart enough & rich enough to conclude, publicly, that more professionals "may" have been able to save some lives, wow, what insight in that presidential mind.


How dumb does he think his supports really are?? No one gonna believe that crappy attempt to clean up his ignorance of the situation.. Hopefully he doesn't say anything that stupid again, or well to @least next week.......
 
The real estate mogul’s initial comments did not initially focus on arming additional security personnel.

"If in that club, you had some people — not a lot of people, 'cause you don’t need a lot of people — but if you had somebody with a gun strapped onto their hip, somebody with a gun strapped onto their ankle and you had bullets going in the opposite direction, right at this animal who did this, you would have had a very, very different result, believe me, folks,” Trump said Saturday during a campaign rally in Phoenix.

“If one of the people in the room happened to have a gun and goes ‘Boom! Boom!’ — you know what? That would have been a beautiful, beautiful sight, folks,” Trump said Friday in Texas.

An armed guard at Pulse nightclub on the night of the shooting did, in fact, exchange gunfire with the shooter.

Trump’s attempts to soften his claims come after the executive director of the NRA disavowed the suggestion that armed club-goers would have guaranteed safety at Pulse nightclub.

He knows exactly how dumb his supporters are.

They are still mouthing the "arm everyone, everywhere" mantra.
