Now we got UPS drivers getting shot,

Finally, a voice of reason. Not only did they toss out the Prefatory Clause, those 5 ignored the historical foundations of the 2nd.
you should really actually READ the opinion, because all 9 justices opined that it was an INDIVIDUAL right.

The militia and why we wanted an armed civilian population in the first place. Those conditions no longer exist and the 2nd applies almost as much as an appendix in modern society.
the constitution is not altered or changed merely because a situation or environment is different or non-existent.

I understand Heller completely, moron. Do you understand the initial purpose of the Second in the context of the militia? Probably not. 4 of the 5 judges did. Too bad Scalia didn't die sooner. For almost the entire history of this country, there was never the concept of what the NRA has shoved up your ass regarding the Second.

But, let's go into Heller a little deeper. Even Scalia said this. You don't have the right to carry any gun, any place, or any time. Just as with any right, there are restrictions. That's where you barrel stroking motherfuckers don't get it.

For almost the entire history of the country, citizens have had the right to own guns.....the right to CC is another issue, being dealt with on a state by state basis....because
the 2nd amend. doesn't speak to that directly.....
"the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".....simple English.
Thats why 'gun free zones' , and the like, are not before the SC.

You obviously don't understand Heller at all....try again,

The [Second] Amendment's prefatory clause announces a purpose, but does not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operative clause. The operative clause's text and history demonstrate that it connotes an individual right to keep and bear arms.

I have yet to talk to a RW gun nut that has s single fucking clue about the origins, intent and more recent rulings in the 2nd.
More guns is their collective, ignorant answer.

I'm not a RW gun nut, but I'd LOVE to read the factual documentation that you have denoting that the right to arms only exists in service to the federal government.......

Scalia was a statist fucktard who tried to avoid another revolutionary war by appeasing the fudds. he got it wrong.

The SC ruled it is an individual right. That stands. That it is an unrestricted right doesn't. Get it?

Yeah, I get it that many of you morons are still stuck in the context of the 18th century. When I read the posts of many of you, I still see that mentality. You hate it that your niggers get a full count these days, don't you?

Its been essentially unrestricted for over 225 years, I think it will endure....
As I said before, concealed carry and where guns are allowed is not covered by the second and therefore have nothing to do with it.....so the states will decide those issues for themselves..the 2nd is an absolute right in what it plainly says....

The amendment is plain and to the point.... the right of people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.....

and Blacks get a full count these days because of us, in spite of the left. Lefties have been pissed ever since we took their slaves away, time to get over it ....

Um, it was actually the free states who devised the 3/5 Clause. The south wanted to count them as whole persons, so they could have even more Congressional representation and electoral votes. To prevent this, the free states argued against counting slaves at all, and then presented the 3/5 Clause as a compromise.

Horseshit. Even in the hairy times of the Wild West, people checked their guns at the door of the town. In colonial times, firearms in the confines of the town were very restricted.

But get this right. Even your hero, Scalia, said in Heller, that the 2nd has restrictions. Too bad he didn't die sooner.

Great compromise, huh? In the south, blacks were considered as property and couldn't vote. Are you still stuck in that 18th century mentality?

cops getting shot, gunmen roaming colleges, and still the daily carnage in America's inner cities, and as constant as ever, conservatives keep telling us more guns is the solution to this madness. As is, any madman, dimwit, guy with a grudge, documented potential terrorist, or just about anyone in America can obtain a weapon legally, and conservatives want to make it even more convenient

At what point does common sense take over?

So don't buy a gun. Nobody is forcing you.

That's not true, no right in the Bill of Rights is absolute, never were, nor intended as such. Gun rules and regulation are Constitutional, even Scalia admitted such at the end of his opinion in the Holder case, which by the way will be overturned some day, the opinion of the conservative Court was illogical

We will outlaw abortion first

Accept your fate

The way you phrased this it looks like you'd be for making gun purchases more restrictive. I disagree. Bought a 357 pistol for my sister this morning. Took all of 20 minutes ... about what it should take. It is wrapped and under the tree ... with a new holster. Shells are going in the stocking.

As I pointed out, the 3/5 Clause was devised by people who at least nominally opposed slavery. It was a compromise in order to gain ratification of the Constitution. Now, if you want to argue that support of the US Constitution makes one stuck in the 18th Century, then, you have joined our resident Laffy Taffy, Iola, as a minority of two.
