Now that the democrats have been rebuked at the ballot box

I love the protests. Democracy is alive & well.

There are a lot of people out there who feel like they have no representation in our gov't right now. They're going to be heard from, loudly & persistently. Gear up.
When Republicans "protested" against Obama they were called racists. Now it is okay to do that though.

I hate points like this. Because I didn't call them racists.

And I was ready for worse if Hillary won.

Protests are a time-honored means of expression in America. I know that Trump & his supporters would prefer that everyone pipe down so he can just move forward effortlessly w/ his agenda, but it is what it is. That's democracy for ya.

Hah are you kidding me? They had to pretend to be "Moderate" with Bill Clinton. Their true colors came out a few years later.

People are tired of this PC nonesense. Watching dumb fuck liberals demand safe spaces, and passing out after seeing the confederate flag. Bunch of PC whiney cry baby bitches. That is what lost them the election.

you aren't allowed to make a prediction until you take a sealed envelope, actually predict something, and then prove yourself correct. Until then, stop.

there was a right way and wrong way to analyze this election. Nothing was 100%. I hedged my predictions, because that was the smart conclusion. Anyone saying 100% when polls say 70/30 are just straight up delusional.

But there are more things I called out very correctly and for a long time, such as how undecideds will never break for hillary. I said for more than a year undecideds would either break for trump or stay home. I called that FOREVER. I also said many times clinton would not get the same level of black support as jesus obama.

I also remember saying many times that trump would not lose hispanic support the way liberals were saying he would. That they were overblowing things. I was proved correct on this when Trump, the big bad meany xenophobe, literally improved his % with hispanics over romney.

Many people would not listen to me when I discussed how this election had higher volitality than in 2012 (i learned this from nate silver). Instead I had idiots like christie and desh go "durrr member romney by 5"

I am still saving many of these for my soon to be released master thread tentatively titled "Why I am smart and why most of you are dumb"

JPP really frustrates me, because I don't see any honest conversation anymore. I always had trump as an underdog and even saying that I think there is a reasonable chance he would win I get branded a trump supporter for quoting actual statistics. This whole place is just one big liberal circlejerk. I admit that I troll probably too much these days, but that is in reaction to what I perceive to be very very very lazy thinking here.

I didn't say you did and glad we agree.

This board has tilted mostly conservative in the past year. It's actually a bastion of the alt-right now.

As for predictions, I don't care what you say about this: if it wasn't for Comey, Hillary wins. I was 100% sure that Trump would lose until Comey's letter. As soon as the letter came out, I was posting every day that she would lose. During the last couple of days, I was surprised to see that the polls hadn't swung as much as I thought, so I thought she'd win again.

And I know, I know - Hillary brought that possibility on herself, so it's not 100% on Comey. But the fact is, without that letter, the conversation about the "meaning" of the election is a lot different today. Trump really is a joke. Perfect storm for him, in many ways. He has a weird sort of idiot-savant skill when it comes to manipulating people, not unlike a classic snake-oil guy - but he's not a serious person.

I take it that you can then link to news articles, back from the time of Obama being elected, that show the protests!!

I mean, there are probably some who think that next time, they just need to nominate someone who most don't see as a criminal.

But I think the nature of the win will be more of a wake-up call than usual. The most obvious thing is to look at Bernie's movement & a lot of the anti-establishment message that he shared w/ Trump, and build off of that. They won't try to appeal to other elements of the winning coalition, but I can see them breaking w/ the past and trying to forge a real progressive platform with (hopefully) a bit more pragmatism than Bernie espoused. Without doubt, the party will change.

They'll make big gains in the house in 2018 regardless; that's just how it goes. The Senate will take a long time now. Yesterday was the best shot they'll have for awhile.

If Trump gets 2 terms, I'll be shocked. But I was shocked when he won the primary, and when he won yesterday.

I doubt it. Dems don't do well in off-cycle years, because your average leftist voter only believes in the power of the presidency. Now, Trump could go to war with Congressional Republicans, and thus rally his supporters to vote in Dems, but, that's about it.

Now that the democrats have been rebuked at the ballot box
Were they?

Some of what I've read of it was that the Democrats won the vote (again); but lost the election due to the electoral college.

I make no assertion here. I haven't personally tabulated the ballots.
I simply ask the question. Are those reports wrong?

I wouldn't be surprised if we won more votes in the house. The entire system is rigged against the majority of the American citizenry! This is not a democracy! We are not free! We are not in control of our destiny! We are held ransom to uneducated hicks in flyover states!

I think you should start rioting, give us an excuse for a huge demographic shift.

Yes you are wrong Republicans won a majority in the vast majority of states.

???....actually, isn't it the ones who were wrong about Trump that are crying harder?......

Sure, but I see a lot on your side crying already. Whining about the protests, the idea that there might be resistance to Trump's agenda, etc. I also see a LOT of "well, I didn't really support Trump, but..."

If I wasn't so concerned about America's most vulnerable citizens, this next 4 years could actually be kind of fun. Watching you guys try to defend Trump could be very entertaining.

How will they change their messaging to be more in line with the wants and needs of the American people?

How long will they wander in the wilderness?

All questions they should be asking themselves.

When you win the popular vote its not a rebuke.

What I hope the Democrats get out of this is primary reform. Allowing the primary to be rigged and allowing candidates to bully others out of the race does not result in nominating the best of the group and will often result in a loss.

The primary process needs to be more open and fair, calling in more interested parties. When one person gets too powerful within a party, it is bad for the party.
