In Texas, the rate of maternal mortality increased by 56% from 2019 to 2022, which is much higher than the 11% increase nationwide during the same period. This increase was due in part to the state's 2021 ban on abortion care.
Explanation
In 2021, Texas banned almost all abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.
In 2022, after the overturn of Roe v. Wade, Texas banned almost all abortions from the moment of conception.
The increase in maternal mortality in Texas was much higher than the national increase.
The increase in maternal mortality in Texas was especially high among Hispanic women.
Some women have reported that their doctors were confused or scared to treat them, which delayed or denied medical care.
If they can't make their numbers public. Then where does the 56% in maternal death increase come from?? And there's nothing in Texas. That says that they cannot release the numbers. The committee has just chosen not to do so .... That's understandable. There have been so many stories of misinformation... And flat out lies...as you can see above...
No need to be in denial.... We've all read the stories and listen to the news... And women in particular are aware of what needs to be done to prevent maternal deaths... And most of them are preventable...
