Brown vetoes snow sports helmet bill

OUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — With a somewhat ambiguous message, Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed a bill Wednesday that would have required children under the age of 18 to wear a helmet while skiing or snowboarding.

“While I appreciate the value of wearing a ski helmet, I am concerned about the continuing and seemingly inexorable transfer of authority from parents to the state,” Brown wrote in his veto message. “Not every human problem deserves a law.”

have to admit brown is impressive. i thought he would be much more liberal. if only all politicians took his sage advice.

I have a list of states that I will not vacation in. It depends if they allow concealed carry or not.

People who support concealed carry deserve to be stripped of American citizenship and tried for treason. You're terrorists, opponents of humanity, and death is too good for you.

Sage advice? It's been shown helmets prevent injuries. If/when that law ever does get passed it should be promoted to children by an announcer/narrator/Police Officer saying, "Hey, kids. We just passed a law requiring you to wear a helmet. We had to make it a law because parents were too stupid to supply one." :D

The child would know if their parent supplied one before the law went into effect so they'd know if they had a smart parent or .......

That's the stupidest thing someone who isn't Jarod has ever said. Safety cannot and should not be mandatory. And there are plenty of good reasons not to wear a helmet in any activity.

Of course safety should be mandatory because society ends up looking after the nincompoops who get hurt.

Can you expand on the "plenty of good reasons not to wear a helmet" statement?
