Russia has assumed the presidency of the UN Security Council (each of the council's 15 members takes up the presidency for a month).
The Security Council is now chaired by a country whose leader is subject to an international arrest warrant for war crimes.
The last time Russia held the presidency, February 2022, it invaded Ukraine. Who’s next?
I don't think the presidency of the Council matters much by itself, but the optics are horrible. Putin should be in prison.
