Noam Chomsky: How Climate Change Became a 'Liberal Hoax'

Excellent post.

It is the job of thinking people not to be on the side of the executioners.
Albert Camus

wow... imagine that...

Mr. Anarchist/Communist bashes American Capitalism.

What is truly funny is the 21:50 minute video on why he thinks climate change became a 'liberal hoax' talks about climate change for all of about a minute. The rest of the time he bashes Capitalism, big business, promotes socialist ideas etc....

VERY funny how he starts out ripping on Meterologists that give their opinion on global warming. What is Noam's background in.... oh yeah... linguistics. Yet he is comfortable in thinking that his opinion is worthy of discussion.

He did provide some entertaining 'unions are the bestest thing ever'.

Don't forget the Republican bashing. Apparently Reps aren't really a political party and their only goal is to not let the government work, unless Dems agree to give more and more to millionaires and billionaires.

We of course wouldn't have deficits if we used a health care model of other countries... like say Canada.

Our health care industry costs twice as much per capita (true) but produces some of the worst results (false).

Oh and one of the best.... the 2010 elections spell the death knell for our species.

yeah... this was a truly great piece... of crap.

I give you credit for watching it...and maybe a tiny little bit will stick through osmosis.

You definitely hit the most salient points. No doubt Chomskey is a smart guy and he has a very different perspective which made it worth the 21 minutes to watch the video. The best part of it is the type of society he desires in the U.S. is not going to come about. We cannot turn back the calendars to a time when we didn't have the foreign competition we have today. And as he said tearing down the U.S. and starting over would not work, that is not an option.

I get why people are attracted to his ideas. I'm glad they just happen to be a small (smaller) minority.

I have no problem watching, listening, reading opposing views. It is what helps shape my views over time.

That said, the vast majority of what he stated in that video is nothing short of marxist/anarchist type bullshit.

Brgrn, Chomsky made several references to the U.S. being the richest and most powerful country in the world. Has he spoken to how that came about and his feelings about it?

Really? Then I have a video that is very enlightening on health insurance, then I have one on Reverend Wright...etc.

I have offered them numerous times to the right...you would be the 2nd conservative who was even willing to watch. The only person was Jarhead who watched the Reverend Wright interview, and it turned his opinion of the man 180 degrees. But he has yet to watch the health insurance interview.

Immigration?

The workers of this country are what make it rich, the people, not to mention the resources aren't bad, either.

I didn't really write that question the way I phrased it in my head. I can probably read some reviews of Chomsky's books and find the answer.

its not actually solely immigration, though not sure you are saying solely. its because we basically wiped out the indigenous population and took all the resources and claimed them for america. we also become strong because we allowed corporations to build across america. however, the corps abused their power and needed to be reigned in. immigration did bring us strength, in that, many brilliant minds from across the world wanted to live in america, the land of hope and freedom, where you could make yourself nearly anything you wanted to. that freedom is what makes us strong. when immigration is not about realizing the american dream, then we become weak.
