How about a better quote from a better source not behind a paywall.
If COVID came from a bat then why can't we find COVID and dozens of variants in bat caves. Why can't we find intermediate hosts.
We have found genetics of several species in Covid, which means we know of several intermediate hosts. You seem to want another species to have a full on pandemic at the same time as us, which would be a rare occurrence, and would not really prove anything.
As a thought experiment, let's say hamsters had a full Covid pandemic to parallel the human one. It could prove hamsters are the source, or that we are the source for hamsters.

"Follow the money" is much wiser advice than "follow the science."

Had the virus jumped from animals to humans, one would expect to see numerous adaptations, as was true in the 2002 SARS outbreak. To Chan, it appeared that SARS-CoV-2 was already “pre-adapted to human transmission,” she wrote in a preprint paper in May 2020.

COVID is the medical ramifications of the SARS-COV2 virus, so no, you will not find COVID in bat caves.
You wont find SARS-COV2 either, as there is a 99% chance it was made in a Chinese lab, almost certainly with American knowledge and funding.

Even those who think lab origin unlikely agree that SARS2 genomes are remarkably uniform. Baric writes that “early strains identified in Wuhan, China, showed limited genetic diversity, which suggests that the virus may have been introduced from a single source.”
A single source would of course be compatible with lab escape, less so with the massive variation and selection which is evolution’s hallmark way of doing business.
The uniform structure of SARS2 genomes gives no hint of any passage through an intermediate animal host, and no such host has been identified in nature.

I have noticed something. When a piece of information goes into an alt right brain, no further information is possible.
No one is sure what animal the cross over came from. It may have been bats, but it may not have been.
It is possible to look at the genetics, and see what species it passed through, and one of these species is bats. Another one of these species is humans. Humans have almost certainly had this before. Though it was probably a tiny outbreak.
It is very difficult to find any virus, especially one that does not have many symptoms, in the wild. We have not found HIV or Ebola in wild animals, and have been looking for them for 40 years.
Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is a rare and deadly disease in people and nonhuman primates. The viruses that cause EVD are located mainly in sub-Saharan Africa. People can get EVD through direct contact with an infected animal (bat or nonhuman primate) or a sick or dead person infected with Ebola virus.
Scientists have spotted the signs of an HIV-like virus in chimpanzees in southern Cameroon, confirming the long-held suspicion that these animals are a natural reservoir for the virus in the wild.
The discovery bolsters the theory that the first people to contract HIV did so through contact with infected blood from wild chimps in the jungle, before eventually spreading the virus to nearby Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo and onwards from there.
Hard to have EBOLA antibodies but never having EBOLA. Plus EBOLA has infected wild primates and pigs.Fruit bats are the presumptive reservoir hosts of Ebola viruses (EBOVs) (genus Ebolavirus, family Filoviridae). When transmitted to humans and nonhuman primates, EBOVs can cause hemorrhagic fevers with high case-fatality rates. In 2008, we detected Zaire EBOV (ZEBOV) antibodies in a single migratory fruit bat (Eidolon helvum) from a roost in Accra, Ghana (1). This bat is common in sub-Saharan Africa and lives in large colonies, often in cities. The flight of an individual E. helvum bat during migration has been recorded as >2,500 km

There are two new sub variants of Omicron Covid. They are definitely spreading faster, but we will see if it kills more or not. It will certainly hit the unvaccinated harder than everyone else... So definitely more deaths among the alt right, but it is uncertain whether it will hit the rest of us hard.
Don't worry, all the alt right has to do is explain they are tired, and I am sure that the virus will understand and leave them along.
