For your information, I grew up in metropolitan Boston, Massachusetts. Folks there have an amazingly myopic view of the world. The shit that they taught us about The South turned out to be pack of lies. That part of the country is also the most racist that I've ever lived in. Where I live now is the least racist. My friends and associates here include self-made contractors, folks that you'd likely consider "rednecks" because they actually work for a living. Here's a bit of what these guys do in their spare time:
RC- spends 10% of his income on fishing. Has had numerous trips to Alaska, South America and Mexico.
DB- has been to Europe more times than I've been to Florida.
BJ- has worked in more states than DB's been to Europe.
I also graduated from a prominent northeast university with BS in Engineering, Cum Laude. I also "aced" history and english.
So again, prove your two statements.

People on drugs become unproductive and dependent on society- the exact profile that Democrat politicians cater to.
"Right-wing thought" is respect for the Constitution and the founding theories of limited government, free market economics and personal responsibility. The fact that the South may be the last "bastion" of this is evidence of it's inhabitants knowledge and wisdom, and the rest of the country's relative ignorance.
I've been called "redneck" by several "progressives" here; never by a fellow Southerner.

Those who think the "War on Drugs" is a battle worth fighting, or even one that's capable of any sort of victory, are out of their minds, if they have minds at all. It is a typical case of ideology either beating out or circumventing real, true, hard facts.
Most drug use is not the actual cause of violence, failure or any other negative consequence. Most, not all for you spazzy idealogues who want to talk about illy and that shit. It is the illegality of those drugs that makes the distribution and consumption criminal, thus criminal activities follow.
But lets talk about illy. Lets talk about the guy that gets loaded to high heaven on PCP and kills someone (extremely rare, save for right wing scare tactics), or the guy that robs a liquor store to get his coke.
Lets talk about what your war is doing to combat it, how it has helped the problem. Lets talk about the thousands of people killed every year by the drug cartels in Mexico and how your war is helping.
Lets talk people.
