No doubt Biden got shelled last night

And Trump is demented and a crook. How could such a man be allowed to run for president? He is close to jail.
This to me just epitomizes why Democrats are in this position now with Biden. I know this board is a very small sample size but are the folks here really that different than other (partisan) Democrats across the country? Throughout much of Biden's Presidency a large majority of the focus has still been on Trump. You guys talk about him FAR more than Biden or anything Biden does. Every single day it's all about Trump, Jan 6th, etc.

I'm sure that's fun when you're in a Democratic echo chamber but it's also why you've missed how others have reacted to Biden's Presidency (and by others I mean the large number of people who aren't partisan Democrats or Republicans and for whom politics doesn't necessarily run their life). The signs have been there all along about Biden's age and people not being thrilled with him and not wanting him to run again.

Instead you've just thrown your eggs all into the 'we'll just talk about Trump and hope enough people dislike him to get Biden re-elected' basket. Maybe Biden will still pull it out but you're going to have to look in the mirror first.

And Trump is trying to outdo Hitler. Now post a stupid picture you fucking moron.
Trump trying to outdo Hitler....

And with the other an old man shoveling one lie after another, you telling us that is a choice for America
There is a reason a large number of people in America hate the two choices we currently have. (although as this thread shows there are still people who are ride or die with each candidate)

I am amused by this dumb argument; that a large number of people hate the choices, yet both candidates received huge majorities to win their parties nominations. :palm:

The anybody but Trump is what got Biden elected, so Democrats are not easily going to drop that strategy, especially when cynicism is the popular view of nearly anything today

Policies, programs, ideas, etc., aren’t sellable today, even if successful, infotainment has made melodrama the motivator, Americans wants good guys and bad guys, not about what you have to offer, it is how you portray the other guy. That was one of Biden’s problems last night, he was prepared to sell policy, and with Trump’s aggressive personal attacks, he was incapable of pivoting

but it is also obvious to conclude that the country is f*cked, we are now facing a decision over electing a narcissist totally lacking a moral compass and a selfish old man too stubborn to fade away
Totally agree. Trump is entirely evil, and his opponent is too old to form a complete sentence. This country is fucked.

I understand not wanting to change what has worked in the past but to me it misses the tea leaves. Biden wasn't really running on a record in 2020. He was running as a stop gap. Now he's running on a record and polling showing people aren't loving what he's doing. In a certain sense I guess going back to the well (being all in on anti-Trump) is necessary in such a scenario but that's basically acknowledging they don't like you (Biden).

Policies are clearly important for a President. But it's not the only thing people vote on. Leadership is a huge issue but you can't really quantify it in a policy. (one of the best ads I remember was from Hillary in 2008 against Obama when she said something to the extent of 'the phone rings in the White House at 3:00am, who do you trust to answer it?" I liked the ad because it can apply to any Presidential race.) How does a President make you feel? Would you like to have a beer with them? For those who aren't political partisans and have no problem voting for people from both parties or just staying home that can play a role too.

In this era of 24/7 news channels and social media you are right, there is a huge infotainment element. I don't know how we put that toothpaste back in the bottle.
